Sacramento's famous "Rest Stop" really closed
I read recently that the Rest Stop non bicycle shop, that was the place in Sacramento for bicycle accessories has closed. TRUE.
Recall the owner Larry & Yvonne Robinson, aany one know what happened to the Robinsons?
Also why the Rest Stop close, as it had and owned a unique nitch in the market.

The Rest Stop has been closed for years. I have no idea what happened to the owners. I still have a pair of pink dog socks and a pink dog Take-a-Look mirror.

I have two of the mirrors the pink dog wore off years ago from glass cleaner. It was uniqe place that sold everything but bicycles. I always drooled over Carnac shoe, but they were so expensive.
Larry was alway full of energy, and could anser and question about bike & accessories. He & his wife Yvonne were great people.

All is well with Larry and his wife I see them around town sometimes, and we are friends on Facebook. In fact, I saw Larry last year while watching Stage 2 of the Amgen Tour of California. I was standing on Folsom Lake Crossing taking pictures and video of the riders in the time trial. Larry spotted the Take-A-Look mirror on my glasses and said "You need a Pink Dog sticker". He pulled one out of his wallet and stuck it on the mirror.
I miss The Rest Stop too, but it's sure nice to see Larry around town.

Yeah, it has been closed for years. I bought my first set of cleated shoes there ~1988.
I didn't know the owner by name but by appearance. He was at this years Sierra Century volunteering at one of the early rest stops, and he offered me one of the dog stickers for my mirror (he wondered if I was from out of town because I didn't have the dog -- but I told him no, I'd been to his shop many times -- didn't mention that I thought the mirrors were dorky back then :-), but now that I use one I had him put the sticker on).
