1985 Trek 760 60cm Frame

SOLD.

For sale is a 1985 Trek 760 60cm frame in overall very good shape. Frame is full 531C with Campagnolo dropouts in a great burgundy color Trek called "beaujolais." This was Trek's top race frame for the year. The 770 shared the frame, but had higher end components. The 760 sported the somewhat deservedly maligned Campagnolo Victory parts.

Included with the frame is the Campagnolo bottom bracket, headset and aero seatpost base. Bottom bracket is in good shape and works as it should. Frame measures out 23.5" center to top seat tube and 23" center to center top tube. Has typical 80's crit racing geometry with short chainstays and tight clearances. Frame is dent-free and straight, but there are some pretty significant paint scratches, especially on the right fork, as shown in the photos. Bike looks great from a few feet. I'll include a container of nail polish as touch up paint that's a pretty close match. I've had this frame for ten years and rode it as my main bike for most of that time. It's quick and responsive and handles on the twitchy side. Had a lot of fun with this one.

$150 plus shipping.

An '85/'86 Trek 770 was my first good road bike. They do ride nicely and are very responsive.
An excellent color match for touch up of the Trek Beaujolais paint color is: Sherwin Williams Automotive color: 4-1-5400-00
Hope it finds a good home!

Great frame/great price. That was the slightly earlier model that had the campy ends/dropouts which were much nicer than the Trek ones..

Thanks for the color match info. If this one hangs around, I may touch it up myself.

Yeah, 70's-80's Trek wasn't necessarily known for racing bikes, but this is a good one.

Thanks, man. If it hangs around for another week or so, I'm going to keep it and build it back up. I got a lot of enjoyment out of this thing.

If I didn't already have an '84, I would so buy this. Great price!

If anyone is hesitating, don't. Mine is built with Superbe Pro and is a competitor in ride with any of my Italians.

I need another frame, not at all, but wondering if you know what tire clearance this will accommodate? I have a later Trek with crit geo, but am maxed at about 25mm. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the question. I never used anything bigger than 25mm tires. Looks like 28's will probably fit, but just barely. I measured 32mm between the chainstays. Hope this helps.

If it's any help my '85 760 will swallow 700 28s with ease. This is a very nice frame. Don't be scared of the steep angles, they ride like a Cadillac. If it were a 58 I'd have another one on the way.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on this one. Congrats on the '84 version. I really enjoyed climbing with the 760. The geometry lends itself to eating up some hills. The brakes didn't inspire confident descending, but ya only live once, right?

Brakes can be replaced...the geometry cannot!

Yeah, it's a good candidate for a more modern build. If the frame doesn't sell, that's what I'm going to do.

Thanks for the info. It does look like 28's will fit.

Sedgemop , I had emailed you on Craigslist about this frame and it's clearances, but my responses kept getting bounced back, and I foolishly put off going back to the listing to start fresh til I got paid! I hope whoever picked this up uses it in good health.

Hey, thanks for the message. I'm sorry the CL messages didn't work. A local BF member just picked up the frame from me. Things have a way of popping back up for sale, so it could wind up being yours one day. Thanks again.
