Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

All gone up here: no single use plastic bags in the grocery stores or elsewhere. Plastic straws, cutlery, etc. on their way out as well.

Next up: our federal gummint has its sights set on single-use plastic containers of all types. Meat counters in supermarkets will go back to being, well, meat counters: make a purchase, have it wrapped in butcher's paper.

I think so too; has to be. And yes, deffo a hornet, not wasp.

Edit: (slaps own head) I forgot that bald-faced 'hornets' are, technically, wasps, not hornets proper, despite their colouring.

I agree. A year or two ago I saw one tear apart a cicada right before my eyes and fly off with part of the body. I'll try to find the photo on my phone.

"single use" plastic bags have been gone for over a year now. plastic straws a bit longer. I think the plastic cutlery is gone as well. At any event in my city the food vendors have to serve takeaway food in compostable containers (I don't know about the rest of the country). Meat trays are still allowed, provided they are made of a recyclable plastic. Oh and if you forget your re-useable grocery bag the supermarkets charge you about $0.30 for a paper one. Though that last one is just the supermarkets making more $$$ of their customers.

I've seen Zap on the road near the Rose Bowl but I haven't ridden with him. Friends have and say he's a decent rider. He race motocross locally before his magazine days. He wore a tall Mohawk back in his mx days.

It's so wild to be reminded of Zap every now and then. I used to read MBA religiously BITD.

I don't know if there is any difference between current P-Zeros and the ones I tried a little while back (2 years ago, maybe), but I was not impressed with the ride quality compared with GP5000TL (less supple). I using the new Vittoria Corsa Pros now, and I think they are a slightly nicer ride than the Contis.

Been that way here for years. For a while you could choose between the crappy plastic bags or paper. Now the stores I go to have only the sturdy plastic bags for ten cents each.
You can bring your own bags of any type but during the c19 thing they didn't allow bringing bags.

I was a fan of Dirt Bike but also got MXA sometimes. Zap would appear in the letters section of MXA.

Before Dirt Bike there was Modern Cycle which had some really funny writing. Reminded me of early National Lampoon stuff.

Thanks for the heads up. I think it’s gunna come down to what the shop has in stock. Today they didn’t have any 700x30 or 700x28 in stock of the contis. There is one other shop I could check out, but I don’t speak of it.

Zap was the kid writing letters to the editor back then. I liked Jody, I think he was inducted to the MX Hall of Fame.
I liked Rick Sieman better, though. Funny guy.
