Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Today I arrived at the office about 8:00 am to prepare for court. Drove an hour for my hearing at 1:00. Got back to the office about 4:00. Skipped breakfast and lunch, and had no snacks, basically just one Diet Coke driving back from court and water all day. Decided to go for a ride when I got home. It was not pretty.

I've had the irregular heartbeat and other symptoms. When I saw the cardiologist he wasn't convinced there was anything wrong but when I told him I sometimes feel awful after a hard ride where I chase people he decided to order the test.

His comment at that time was maybe I just couldn't ride like that anymore.

I am hopeful you wore a cardiac event monitor to capture the heart rhythm when you have/had the irregular heartbeat. That’s more valuable to diagnose the problem.

Nope, never wore one. I was hoping the cardiologist could shed some light on it without going any further. We'll see.

I need to call tomorrow for a cardio checkup.

been a few years since my last echo and stress test. I used to have to get them every year for the HCM.

nothing new, I just like to do it around my bday, which happens to be today.

only thing different since previous is that my FTP is worse. Maybe I get PVCs a few percent more (which wasn’t much to begin with).

They don't carry spares, so they might be trying to find a wheel/tire.

I have several brands and styles. They all work fine. The Park TL-1.2 is good, of course.

I do hundreds of flat repairs at the bike shop with cheap generic levers. I do occasionally break one.

That's what AAA is for.

I prefer this style. I find less chance of pinching a tube:

I appreciate the tire bar discussion. I just got my first (vintage) MTB, and now I need to collect up my EDC kit for it.

Pokemon again... including my first-ever full success on WorLdle with zero crib sheeting, and only even missing the first two flag guesses. Everything else perfect.

Maybe they forgot where they left it. We had a van towed in for a no start. I diagnosed it and the writer tried to call the customer and the number he gave us was wrong. He was so drunk he gave the wrong phone number and couldn't remember where he had it towed. Couldn't remember having it towed. After more than 2 weeks of calling shops he found it at our place. Came down and had it towed out and refused to pay anything.

Message of the day, so far:

"Doctor, my husband has been sick the past 2 days with fevers and a little cough. He also has some body aches. Can we bring him in to get checked?"
"Did you test him for COVID?"
"No, should we?"
"Yes."
------15 minutes later
"Doctor, his test was positive."

I would have hoped by now that anyone with an illness knows to test for covid, but obviously not.

p.s. just say NO to Paxlovid, with rare exceptions.

Agree but sometimes if the bead is super tight, it's tougher to get under it. The rounded tip is easier.

Ya'll don't just use screwdrivers to get the tires on and off?

That Shimano Crank Recall does NOT surprise me based on what's been on the interwebz the past few years....but it's a big deal. I am pretty gentle on my cranks but will get them exchanged.

Sounds like you need to get them inspected and show signs of delamination before they can be replaced. I guess I better ride harder.
