Back when I was a truck driver, i was coming back through SF from the bay bridge with a set of doubles, where it merges with 101. bumper to bumper at 5 pm. Crawling along I felt a crunch. A guy had tried to squeeze past and his front wheel went into mine. A mile or so down the highway we were able to pull over and a CHP was there. The officer asked if it was ok if the driver sat in my truck. Then the officer went over to the right side by the wheel and said "can you see me?" The guy said no. Then the officer said to me. "you can go".

I think your experience and perspective can be of some value to those who chose to follow the prototypical "American Dream" and chase the things you avoided. It might be later than is ideal, but hey better late than never.

30 minutes of indoor cycling. Skeptical. I tried to adjust the fit but couldn't make it work
My rear was not liking the experience. Made some after ride changes and will continue to tweak the fit. Hopefully I'll tolerate 45 minutes after that. I supposedly went 6.5 miles based on cadence and whatever internal gearing the use. Kept a steady pace but studies say that is not heart friendly. My heart needs more friends.

Can one not have a relationship with a writer with whom one does not interact personally?

I decided it's time to start doing one or two structured workouts a week, what with it being Indoor Cycling season now. I decided to start with a Sweet Spot workout, about 50 minutes in duration, with 40 of those minutes being alternating 5' intervals of 245/225w. This is based on my supposed FTP of 257w, which I haven't tested in probably a year. I've done a lot of riding since, but not much high intensity stuff, so I suspect it's lower. Anyway, between not having done any workouts in a long time, and probably a lower FTP than that, I decided discretion is the better part of valor and cut it roughly in half. I'll set my FTP to 240 and do that workout again, but not till I get back from my trip Back East. Call it a Rest Week, which begins after my Long Sunday Ride tomorrow.

I turn 37 today! Wild. Been in my best shape the past 4 years. Losing 10 lbs had a lot to do with that.
Gonna head to the parents and have them babysit Lilly for a couple hours while Liz and I can get a couple beers and early dinner out, accompanied by a close friend of mine from HS. Baby has been fussy and cluster feeding the last three days starting in the late afternoon, so we'll see about all that. Bringing a bottle and some frozen breastmilk just in case.
4 hour ride planned for tomorrow, but again we'll have to see if the child permits.

Can you picture the story?
So and so insurance: Hello, how may I help you.
Customer: I need to file an auto claim
Insurance: Tell me what happened
Customer: I was driving down RT so and so and was hit by a plane.
Insurance:..........................................................................................
Insurance: Can you repeat that for me?

That was at the top of the "Rock Store" climb on a day when I could stay with her. She has a place above Lake Tahoe and she has been known to go up there and ride with the Alta Alpina club. That is a club which does long high mountain rides. Anyway, after she hangs out with them she comes back here and just floats up the climbs.

Going back to the Civic Type R vs Alpha Romeo Giuliano discussion, local dealer is advertising $8k+ off the Alpha. That could be hard to pass up at $39k.
https://www.alfaofplano.com/vehicle-...tx-id-52036496
Even better at $11k off.
