Floor Pump Recommendations

I would like to get a new floor pump for my bikes. Most of them have Presta valves. I am not a fan of the clip-on attachment especially for Presta valves (hard to get on and hard to get off). I recently got a CO2 inflator that has a screw-on attachment that works great. I think I like the Lezyne Steel Floor Drive Pump that has a screw-on valve attachment. The reviews are not the greatest, but they mostly don't like the valve attachment. Some love it, I think they are using it on Presta valves. I do not have to go much over 100 psi, less a lot of times. Thoughts? Thank you!

I would not recommend the Park Tool PFP-4 Pro. Not a great attachment system. My old Walmart pump was easier to use, though it may be that the Park has more volume or a more accurate gauge

I like the Topeak Joe Blow, it has a "Twinhead" hose that works with either Schrader or Presta -its worked great for me for almost a decade.

+1 I've had mine for about 5 years. It just works great. Reliable and easy.

I have a Blackburn with 1 hole that works for both schrader and presta, which I prefer. The Blackburn Air Tower 1 looks similar to mine and it's cheap. I absolutely loath the Topeak Joe Blow Sport II. We have 5 at the co-op and the rubber seal around the valves and the locking mechanism just seems to deteriorate quickly. I think it's down to the fact these are co-op shop pumps anyone can use and lots of noobs with no clue how they work just mess them up. I see ryansu likes his, but I'm sure he's not a first time user in a rush mucking about, messing it up who knows how. I almost think the shop pumps are purchased broken, they all suck that much.

I think there is one with a metal selector, and a plastic selector. The more expensive metal one seems to work well.

I have a different pump that one twists the head, and so far it is working well too.

I have an SKS Rennkompressor with a Hirami Yoko head, and it is the best pump ever.

The stock SKS head is perfectly fine and pumps both Presta and Schrader without an adapter. The Hirami head is better and easier, but it is presta only and costs more than the pump - a bit of a luxury. On second thought, maybe it does work with schrader too. Directions were in Japanese...

A screw on head for a floor pump would drive me bonkers. I don't even like them on emergency mini pumps.

I had a Planet Bike pump- it cost $35 and it was great. Our son has it now.

I currently have an SKS Rennkompressor and a Lezyne Floor Drive

The SKS dominates.

I had to get a new head from SKS, but their customer service was phenomenal. Got me a new head quick and easy.

The Lezyne has the twist on connector- its "OK" but nowhere near as nice as the SKS, and the SKS feels much more substantial.

And it's a RENNKOMPRESSOR. How do you beat that?

(You know the Germans always make good stuff)

Go for the Lezyne Steel Drive. Some folks like screw on chucks, some don't. Wish I'd ponied up the extra money for it a couple of years ago. Especially for the built in bleed valve to fine tune the pressure.

My Nashbar Earl Grey floor pump with flip-lever chuck works fine, but it's a PITA. Usually takes two or three tries with a balky Presta valve, and I've managed to bend one valve core just fiddling with the dang thing.

I prefer the little Topeak Race Rocket mini-pump's screw-on chuck and little hose extension. But if you ask around you'll find plenty of people who hate portable pumps with extension hoses too.

We have a Lezyne Classic High Pressure (HP) Floor Pump for tire pressures over 60 psi. We recently bought a Lezyne Classic High VOLUME Floor Pump, which is AWESOME. Only goes up to 60 psi though. It took me 3 strokes to add 15 psi in my 26" tire. With the HP, it takes like 10-15 pumps to do the same.
Both feature Lezyne ABS-2 chuck, which are replaceable when they wear out. We bought ours at REI.

I use a Lezyne Steel Floor Drive with the Hirame head and have been very happy with it. I think the Hirame head makes any pump better.

I have a Serfas TCPG and love it. Accurate gauge, solid pump stroke, Schrader or Presta swapable head. It's also lasted me nearly 10 years and counting. One big from this guy.

I've been happy with the Spin Doctor essential floor pump. It's been a couple of years and still going strong.

IMHO Joe Blow by Topeak . I have the Sport Model(yellow). I have two of these pumps, one at each location I ride from(I have a few bikes!). I have never had them fail. My wife's bike is schrader and my bikes are all presta it has the dual head , no hassle . Steel base that is wide so it doesn't tip over easily. Easy to get 100lbs +. Joe

My yellow Topeak Joe Blow has been all I need for the last 5 years, but I like the high guage mount on this one, and the valve chuck looks super simple to use. I've been thinking of getting a second pump, since when I'm back and forth between NOLA and Shreveport I sometimes forget the floor pump. I might just give this one a go.

I like my Joe Blow, too. Double hole head for both schrader/presta and the flip lock lever is easier to use than the ones on my Schwinn, Serfas and one or two others I've picked up over the years. All were acquired for a buck or two at garage sales, or for five bucks at Goodwill.

That's a classic and classy combo!
SKS Rennkompressor + Hirame Yoko head.
I still only have the first part.

Another endorsement of Topeak Joe Blow here. Mine is the "race" model with a switch that toggles between Schrader and Presta. Inexpensive and reliable for almost 10 years now.

I'll be the dissenter when it comes to the Topeak Joe Blow. It's proven to be reliable but there are a couple of things about it I do not like. The dual head is convenient but I find the presta head fits sloppy and does not lock on nearly as well as other pumps I've used, especially if you use a tube without a threaded valve. I've bent a lot of presta valves over the years getting the presta head to firmly engage.

The other thing I dislike about the Joe Blow are the rough edges on the metal base. Succeptible to snagging and scratching a car's interior parts.

As far as a recommendation, I really like my buddy's Specialized floor pump. The presta head fits much more precisely and the whole pump has a more solid feel. Fills quickly too.

I'm really liking the the Joe blow (metal base) I picked up a few weeks ago. Very easy, no hassle, and sturdy. (Though- disclaimer- my only comparison is to a cheap Bell pump from Wally World.)
