Trek CHRGTime Charging Station... Is it a Thing?

I'm not sure that anyone actually needs this or not, but it is interesting and an convenient way to store and transport all the various electronic doo-dads that today's bikes have. What's odd is that this looks like a legit Trek product, but I can't find any info on it online.

Hey. I saw one in a box in the Trek store today. I thought it was for charging ebike batteries. It was behind the counter area too far for a close look. Now that I think about it, it was too small to hold the Trek ebike battery I saw.

Too organized for me.

That looks handy! I’d llove to know the specs to see does it support fast chatging across all outputs; at €100, it seems to cheap for that, but it still is very appealing to me.

looked at the one at my lbs, it has that "cool" factor, but it wouldn't fit within my needs. I think the container could be built thinner using stronger materials resulting in a smaller footprint.

If I ever have enough electronics on my bike that I feel I need this product, it means it's time to take up another hobby.
...and I currently always ride with a GPS and Varia, and sometimes have a front light. I can't imagine needing this product, even if my main bike was di2.

Yeah, that thing is a head-scratcher. What is the intended use-case?

In my garage, over my workbench, I have plenty of outlets, and several have charging bricks and cables more-or-less permanently plugged into them. If a light, or a computer, or anything needs charging, I just plug it in. Don't know why I would need some special box for charging.

I wonder if it has built-in power storage? Otherwise it does just seem like a fancy box.

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like a storage box. I presume it has built-in multiple usb charge ports and a single external mains plug, which could be quite useful. Even more useful if it has it's own rechargeable battery

While I love the ridiculously absurd “looks like a box” line of thought— it’s so classic BF hater form, one has to marvel— there aren’t more than like 5 returns from a Google image search for “Trek CHRGtime,” which tell most of the story. It’s obviously an integrated USB hub connected to mains. A quick call to my local Trek shop confirmed there is no onboard battery, and the hub outputs 65w max at 13amps across 6 ports, which are ‘quick charge’ battery charging specs, so that’s nice. At $125 for everything pictured, that’s not too bad, so I’ll probably order one of these.

not from what I could see, unless it's an ultra compact Lithium ion... which is why I think the packaging could be better too.

That tracks for you, thought I am surprised you arent holding out for the oil slick or anodized version.

It is a box.

I must not be understanding this device properly, because I can't understand what it does that can't be accomplished with a smaller price and smaller footprint by something like this.

Ok so it is a usb hub in a box. Not a terrible idea, but at $125 I’m out.

That'd be sweet! All kidding aside, I'll admit that I like the idea of this charging box. Seems like it'd be a great idea for people who travel a lot with their bike, or for people like me that hate the look of wires all over the place (of which, my computer desk looks like Medusa with all the visible wires.) However, at $125, I'm afraid I don't like it that much. I haven't found another comparable on Amazon for cheaper, at least not yet.

In a dreamy future world, it'd be nice if all bicycling gadgets had wireless charging and there was a charger box that one could just throw all batteries and devices in the box and they are magically charged.

A 6 port usb charger can be had for $20-30 bucks but if a box with a logo on it is worth a lot to you, go for it.

Maybe it's one of the skus that'll disappear in the Trek downsizing rightsizing. Better get yours now before they're gone.

While looking for something else this morning, I came across the manual. I like that there are lights that indicate when each device is charged, but apparently the lights may only indicate the charge status of Brontrager/Trek devices. And although I would like a solution to the clutter of cables where I charge my Edge, two Garmin watches, two Bontrager lights and two Apple Watches, the clutter doesn't bother me enough to buy one of these.
