Bottecchia bike, classic red, beautiful head badge, sublime wheels, Carnielli hand made, Columbus steel, mix of older Campagnolo Record and Shimano 600. A few unusual parts. I'm the 2nd or 3rd owner and have meticulously maintained this bike since the late 1990's. It's been overhauled after any serious use in the rain and has never seen salt / New England winters.

I carefully sanded any bit of exposed steel and then applied clear nail polish, and repeated this every few years. Some of the stickers are gone, some have been added. Looks cool and well loved.

It DOES seem to have a Columbus decal (but I cannot tell what tubing) and a sliver decal on forkblades, which I guess might be something like Cromor blades.
But certainly some people hate the unicrown fork on any bike, so for them it's 100% "low grade"

“This is a bike to fall in love with,” as a cyclist-friend who once took it for a spin said. He was right. I have ridden and cared for this bike for about ten years, buying it from original owner who bought it new and immediately put it in storage. This was Peugeot’s top-of-the-line steel offering in 1989, and as far as I can tell the only year this bike was made with SLX tubing. It rides like a dream. The paint is a dreamy deep purple with sparkles and a touch of blue that come out with the sun and there are other fun touches everywhere: subtle lugs, a little extra chroming on the drive-side chainstay, and front-facing “Peugeots” on each fork blade. There are just a couple blemishes: a few mm of chipped paint at the top of the seat tube, some decal scuffing on the non-drive side chainstay, and a bit of chain-contact marking on the drive side chain stay—see photos for each.
I’m about 6’1” and rode this 57 with a taller stem and was very happy on it, though about 5’10” would be ideal.
