Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

stem angle & drop. help me out?

I just bought a new frame and am trying to size it correctly.

Right now I have a 110mm -6 degree stem installed. Currently the reach to hoods is correct, but I'm about 2cm too high.

Since I have no more spacers to remove, I will need to use a different stem

Would a -10 degree 100mm solve my issue and give me an extra 2mm drop while keeping my reach intact? Or would I be looking for a -8 or even a -17?

thanks for any help

Or you could pull out your old geometry and trigonometry textbooks and do the math yourself.

Ding ding.

Or if thats too hard:

Better option: Buy a few of the $5-6 Easton stems on jensonusa and experiment.

Best option: Buy a Specialized stem that is continuously adjustable from -8 to -16 degrees in the length you want and tweak it until you nail it.
