Irritating Bickering
The back and forth bickering between some posters, members or not, has gotten a bit ridiculous. It seems to me, until serious name calling and on line harassment occurs, the mods seem to be hesitant to address the issue. In the meantime, I believe that behavior harms the Forums and the members. I understand this is a public forum, people have egos and opinions they want to state, but the childish arguing is really stale. People that participate in this type of behavior are just showing their self-centeredness, and their own insecurities. This is all just my opinion.

New here? In my decades on BF I've found the volunteer mods to be fair & reasonable. Herding cats on multiple sub forums with posters worldwide, varying experience/knowledge, and personalities is not an easy gig. Somehow the forum survives.
In almost 20 years here I have no one on ignore, and just scroll on by rather than take umbrage

I find it mildly entertaining, but it does seem that the same couple of guys have a need to be right, even when they are wrong...

Note that the button is not red on all devices. Look for the triangle with the exclamation point inside.

...so basically my drunk ex father-in-law ? If I could endure him in person, tuning these guys out on the internet should be a snap. It would be nicer here if I could look forward to a holiday dinner, though.

I am old, and if I can save a few seconds here and there, I can spend it contemplating my own mortality.

I'd be curious to see what the numbers on ignore to eventually banned are.

Seems to be a common phenom with 'public' venues these days (why I dropped F*book a few years back) once the constant display of human frailty becomes too apparent. My biggest gripe isn't the 'public' stuff itself, it's when this becomes a constant in so-called news media that should instead be free of bias.
This Internet thing is as much a tool now as it is a weapon.

I belong to another bicycle forum where this zero bickering, insulting, negativity, politics, alcohol talk, religion.... it's refreshing. Just bikes, occasionally other hobbies, and only positivity.

Yep, I belong to another, and the ongoing bickering and harassment between individuals does not happen. There are disagreements, but I have yet to see them deteriorate to the child like level. Why that is, I cannot say.

Keep in mind that this is the self-proclaimed “leading online discussion site for avid cyclists”.
ACA’s forum is pretty civil, although it has its share of what appear to be would-be spammers every now and then. A few “eccentrics” as well. But the activity is minimal compared to BF.

The rest of them are still here, happily going about their business irritating other users. But I don't usually see what they write.
Call me unreliable.

You sure??
My impression is that it’s updated whenever a user is banned. It sometimes happens with high frequency but none lately.
We can bicker about who is right if you wish.

Quite sure. If you want to bicker we should probably start a new thread. Question is, where should we put it?

I don't mean to bicker, but I'd rather scroll by petty arguments than a thread where four people quote the OP with 8 photos when their reply doesn't even depend on the photos.
