Evening folks! I'm curious what most folks use for rearview mirrors on their bikes. Or who prefers the helmet mounted style. I'd love your opinions and pics if you have them.

Maybe not quite the clarity or perspective the Take-A-Look has, but it gets the job done.

Used Third Eye mirror on glasses for a lot of years, switched to "Take A Look" and like it better.

Third Eye helmet mount, what I had left over from my samples when I was repping. Looks dorky, works fine.

I've been using the Third Eye Round Mirrors forever. (Helmet mount, relatively short arm, great field of view.) The clamp is good but didn't work well on any helmet I had so I've been making my own brackets for the mirror to clamp on. I take sheet aluminum (beer cans work, sorts, but thicker, stiffer stock works much better. I cut out and bend the aluminum to fit inside the helmet visor above my eye. The aluminum extends down, then is bent out to forma small shelf. The mirror clamps on just above the shelf. Once i have a shape I like, I use epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth to coat both sides of the aluminum. Last I drill two small holes in the top portion and matching hold n the helmet visor and secure with a couple of small screws and nuts. End result will outlast several helmets and is completely secure.
Mounting the mirror on a visor works out really well. To clean the helmet, just pop the visor off.

Take-A-Look Glasses mount mirror PLUS bar-end mirror. I'd be happy with just the take-a-look mirror, but sometimes movement in the bar-end mirror alerts me to approaching vehicles, especially at night after dark.

I use take a look mirror. I have for years now I really like it very clear and wide field of vision. I find myself looking for the mirror sometimes when I am walking around downtown.

I also use the Safe Zone mirror. It is way over-priced, but cyclists seem to like being ripped off by gear suppliers. And it is the best helmet mirror I have owned.

I use the Zefal clip on handlebar mirror on most of my drop bar bikes. It clips just beneath the brake lever mounts and gives a decent rear view.
I use an articulated bar-end plug mirror on my commuter which also has drops, and once adjusted it gives a pretty wide view of the left side rear.
The biggest challenge for having a mirror mounted down on the bars is that you have to be disciplined to scan downward to see it. If you don't look at the mirror, it isn't doing you any good. I can see the advantage of a helmet mount, because you simply scan to the left to see to the left rear.

DITTO! Went thru several Third Eye - they just didn't last. Ball joints would not hold mirror in position on rough roads. Now using "Take A Look" and like it much better. It will take time to get it adjusted and get used to it. Due to compact size helmet can be stored without losing adjustment.

I think this is a Blackburn Road mirror on my Domane. I modified the bracket with shears and experimented with different Velcro confine to get it to fit the disc brifter. Nice wide view. I have a round mirror on frankenbike....unsure the origin. Also tried (and still have) a Third Eye, but didn't care for it in my peripheral vision.

Takealook on my helmet visor-best I've used. Handlebar mounted mirrors get bumped out of position too easily and rattle and vibrate from rough roads so you can't see very well. Eyeglass mounts are often uncomfortable because they affect the way your earpiece fits. You can see it in this pic.

Based on the number of times I saw the take a look referenced here in the forums, decided to try it out last year. Lost the first one, bought it again but moved it to the helmet with the adapter they sell, and am still getting used to it.
Keeping it attached to the helmet means one less thing to put on/take off/store, which is one less thing on the mental checklist several times a day.

Thanks guys. I have a mirror on the drop bars now, it works well but i have to be soooooo careful loading and unloading. Its always out of adjustment. I'll try one of the helmet mounts. Seems to make the most sense.

When I first got my helmet mounted mirror, I kept bumping it all the time like when I'd wipe my face or whatever. Even now on occasion I'll accidentally hit it with my hand and knock it out of place. Luckily it's not hard to adjust.

This is what I'm currently using. It's ultra-dorky looking but works pretty well (good field of view) and works on either bike with minimal adjustment.
