Appalachian Trail starting in GA

Thinking about riding the Appalachian Trail starting in GA + getting off about halfway into NC and ending in Ashville, NC. Riding a cross bike and my buddy amt bike. Anyone know ANYTHING about something like this? Hints , tips, done it before? I’ve never have, so looking for good info.

I hiked from Katahdin to Springer Mountain back in the late 80s early 90s.
Bicycles are not permitted on most all of the AT.

It's a hiking trail.

I understand there are some good trails for mountain biking around Asheville.

The AT is strictly a hiking trail. Also, it can be difficult going on foot. Trying to ride it is not a good idea and horribly inappropriate. It is not as if there are not plenty of great road rides in northern Georgia. The climb up Brasstown Bald maxes out at 28% which should be enough abuse to satisfy anyone. Also, you can down load the route for the Six Gap Century if you have the notion of frying your legs.

Hmmm crap... did not even think they wouldnt be allowed. But thanks for the alternatives. Guess we'll just have to find something else to do! Something that starts in North GA would be nice... or NC near Asheville.

You can ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, which starts in the western tip of NC. Runs by Asheville. Goes up into Virginia and ends where Skyline Drive begins.
