27 miles on the '74 Motobecane Grand Touring at Lewisville Lake north of DFW today. The south wind was actually tolerable...

@Wildwood and I were planning to do a ride on our own on the Foothills National Recreation Trail down near Buckley, but Bob Freeman sent out an invite to do the Middle Fork road ride - about 40 miles in distance. We decided to do that ride instead, saving lots of driving distance, plus a bigger crowd. When I rolled up, there was @Andy Antipas and Jacob Russell in addition to Bob, Sylvia and Monica. Also present was Mark (doing a bike-parts deal as well as riding) and we met up with Steve at the halfway point. He thought he was behind us as he didn't start from Bob's house like the rest of us.

We had a decent headwind on the main road on the way out, but once we hit the Middle Fork road, there was no wind to speak of. The shade did feel a bit cold at times, but when we were in the sun I felt perfectly dressed.

We ended up with 3 Masis (Bob, Jacob and Steve), a Davidson (Monica), a Calfee (Sylvia), a Mondia (Stuart), Andy on his Pinarello's maiden ride and me on my '73 Super. I felt pretty good all day, so that was a good sign of good things to come.

Bob got right-hooked by some guy on the main road on the way back - probably only 3 miles from home. He's fine, if suffering a little pain from landing on his left hip/shoulder, but he was wearing a helmet and it would be difficult to know if the bike got any more scratched up then it already was. Why? Well, he was riding the '69 Masi Special I sold him some years ago and as yet it's not been restored. It had plenty of chips/loss of paint, so at least he wasn't riding one of his pristine restored or original rigs.

We had some coffee and pastries in North Bend afterwards for a bit, then headed off in all different directions. A fun ride, especially riding with some peeps I'd not seen/ridden with in a long while.

Here's some pics - enjoy!

Closest I got to a group shot:

No pics of me, but here's my bike:

Jeff, Nice photos and thanks for posting them so quickly. Unfortunately, Bob got hit by a real knucklehead. Otherwise, it was a nice ride and a good day out. The new to me former Andy Kaylor Pinarello rode great. The rear fender needs work, but otherwise I'm happy with it. If I knew you were going to light the afterburners with a couple of miles to go, I would have gone with you. The tailwind made the last few miles easy work... Till the next time. Ciao!

Yeah, I felt great all day and when we began feeling that tailwind I just kept winding it up until I found myself almost over-spinning my 13. By that time I was too afraid to take my eyes off the road in front of me

Glad you came out and are happy with the Pinarello's performance; it's certainly a looker!

Bob sent me a few pics, so here's one of me as we left the snow of the turnaround point:

And an artsy shot of the Colnago from the saddle:

Wow, great looking ride, sure hope Bob is really ok.

Maybe the knucklehead was brianfarted from seeing three Masi's together on the road at the same time.

Thank you for the nice group riding pics, DD.

I'm mid-60'ish. I have had 3 bad accidents flying off my PX-10 in the 46 years I've owned it.
Two of them, not my fault, I was run off the road by vehicles.
I wasn't wearing a helmet in either case, mostly a lot of skin & mild blood lose.

Last September, I misjudged a fast left turn- didn't lean into the turn enough- and hit a concrete curb.
I flew about 15-20 feet, slammed my head, chest, right shoulder multiple-fractures;
when I regained consciousness, I was really glad that my helmet was broken & crushed- not my head.

To not wear a helmet makes no sense.
Think about it.

Looks like a great ride Jeff, hopefully Bob won't be all stoved up afterwards, that morning-after can be rough sometimes. Those made for a really great looking group go bikes on the ride too.

My ride took me from Auckland's west coast, through the city and over to the north shore on the ferry.
It was a beautiful late summer's day, about 23 degrees no wind and a big drop in humidity vs late. I was only supposed to be picking my car up from work as i cycled home on Friday, but given the conditions took the opportunity for a few small detours, including up North Head... an old military installation on the shore...

I was out on my Sports looking for something particular for tonight's dinner. I figured that while I was out I could ride downtown to the store my son works at to give him some mail he got. My tour of specialty groceries in Manhattan (4 of them and one Greenmarket) plus the mail drop put a bit over 14 miles under the belt. I didn't think to take any pictures, so here's the route and a picture of The Dakota on Central Park West and 72nd that I took last night - I passed it again today on my way home.

Great pictures @Drillium Dude

Great spring like weather this weekend here in the Pacific Moist West.

I was able to get out yesterday AND today for some rides on the new bike.

Picture below was taken yesterday afternoon out on the Middle Fork Road.

Nature is still recovering from last week's sudden winter, but the temperature was spring-like today. Decided to take the Mann-Libertas out for its maiden trip.

What a wealth of photos from around the world today! My favorite thread. Thank-you all. @malcala622 I'm envious! But I did get to ride one of my French bikes today.
I went on my first longish (64 miles) ride on the LeJeune that I just finished restoring. Apparently my nether regions are not quite as fond of Unicanitor saddles as they were 40 years ago but not enough discomfort to mar a fine sunny ride through the dairy country of West Marin, CA. Today was sunny and beautiful with just a bit of wind. Yesterday it rained. Tomorrow evening more rain is forecast.

Sunny, calm, and 45 degrees this weekend in northern Illinois.

Friday night was spent installing a rack on the SLT and decaleur on my new Acorn bag.

Saturday morning I rode out to the airport and spent about an hour re-acquainting myself with the family airplane that I haven't flown in almost 5 months. As always, it ran like a sewing machine and was a delight to fly.

Later that day, I took the SLT out on a 20 mile shakedown with the new bag and rack setup. The bag is rock-solid on the bike, and I got used to having the extra weight in front after about 5 miles. Unfortunately my saddle began to slip, so by the end of the ride its nose was really quite high. Other than that, I'm really starting to get the hang of the shifting technique that this bike wants. Before I thought that it shifted poorly, but it turns out it was just me .

Managed to get out both Saturday and Sunday on the same 21 mile route. What a great weekend!
