Platform Pedals

First the disclaimer: I ride Crankbrother Candy's on my road/gravel bikes, but do use platforms pedals & 5-10's sticky sole shoes for mountain biking,

There is a review of 8 platform pedals over at this site where they provide some nice write-ups on how the pedals compare on rebuilding/Q-factor/ and overall quality.

I've got the Shimano Saints on my touring rig and think they are excellent. Rebuild them before a long tour and you're good to go.

Pretty cool, but I look for other features in a flat pedal that weren't mentioned:

Can they accept at least one reflector or do they have a flat spot for reflective tape?

Could I mount a half cage on them?

As evident in that review, they're all pretty similar. It's really those features I mentioned above (plus quality/serviceability) that differentiate a great flat pedal, for me.

Like you, I had similar wants in a flat pedal for touring. After much searching, I ended up with the Wellgo 143. So far, I am very happy with them.

The Velo Orange touring pedal does all that you require. I use them on all of my bikes with half clips.

Yes, those are the pedals I use. With the Velo half clips.

I also run the Grand Cru Sabots on another bike with MKS half clips.

Reflectors on both, though I'll likely replace with 3M reflective tape, if I ever get around to it.
