After spending the morning at Crystal River's Three Sisters Spring for the last manatee sighting of the year we were able to get in 16 miles on our local MUP. Our friends from Maine left around noon for another part of Florida so back to the regularly scheduled program.... starting in the morning. Our old home is under 3 feet of snow but we are in sunny warm North Central Florida....

Did the Palm Springs 100k (actually 55 miles) today on the tandem. Pretty tough wind for a good part of the ride and our average, 14 mph, shows it (or maybe that's our age showing?). Wicked storm the day before which left the wind in its wake; we were lucky to get here last night.

With this beautiful weather I opted for the easy miles on the Greenway again and it felt good so I took three laps, 47 miles. https://app.strava.com/activities/40327749 I'm just wanting time in the saddle for these rides, but it's becoming a little frustrating with the pedestrians and slower traffic so I may bid audios to the MUP for longer rides.

No snow here. Sunny and 40's this afternoon: 17 miles. My excuse for not riding racer-fast today: Donated blood yesterday.

12.5 mile recovery ride after three days of hard 35 mile rides with very strong winds. Tomorrow, it's back to the old grind.

hey Bill and thanx for the welcome turned 50 just under 10 days ago and its good to see such a thriving 50+ community even if it is on the other side of the world!

Gorgon is the name given to the $68 billion oil and gas project being built off the West Australian coast. we are about a year in to it's construction.

65 miler on Saturday. Finished on a nice 3 mile climb with 11% and 14% grades. Ugh. Very nice day to ride as long as you weren't going directly into the NW breeze.

Got another very windy, 24 mile workout today, except it was mixed with some rolling hills. Yes, we do have some but I had to drive about an hour north of me to do the ride. Mostly head and crosswinds for most of the ride. Crosswinds were so bad that they almost knocked me over twice during the return ride. First team ride of the year and it was an extra large glass of chocolate milk workout kinda ride.

Today's ride. The ride name is incorrect as I forgot to start a new ride and it used the default ride name.

Rode 50 more today (Sunday). Rode from the house to the inlaws where my MIL had a ham, macaroni & cheese, green beans plus some other great food waiting. Will enjoy that for supper in a couple hours. No wonder I can't lose any weight.

My wife drove over so will ride back in the van later tonight. My legs were a little more sore than normal. Probably didn't drink enough yesterday and I didn't get my recovery drink after yesterday's ride. I think that stuff must really work.....

The wife and I got in a short 5 miler around the neighborhood this afternoon before the rain started. Right about 50 degrees F so the temps were not to bad. Even thought it was only 5 miles it is quite hilly around here so it was a decent workout. This was our first time out in February, it's been cold and either snowing or raining a lot around here lately. The best thing about the days ride is that it marks 12 straight months that I have ridden and 8 straight for her. Once we hit November I was concerned about being off the bike for a month or more until March. If the weather guys are right I should get another ride in Thursday.

35 miles in the hills yesterday 40 in the flats today. Today's ride was with my adult son, who is just beginning to take up cycling. The 40 miles was a great accomplishment, and made me proud ( and a little smug that he was cooked at the end of the ride, and I was ready to keep going.)

60 miles from Spotsylvania CH down and around Lake Anna and back. I have to say this is not the most beautiful country I've ever seen in Virginia. It was mostly flat. Not too populated, but not many farms or woodland either. It mainly seemed to be woodlots where they had just clear-cut huge sections of land. Or it was woodlots in the process of growing back from the last time they cut. The trees were mostly long tall fast-growing pines that didn't look native at all.

Maybe it's more pleasant in the summer time. I'm glad I've checked this one off this list, since it's a ride I've been meaning to do, but I doubt I'll be doing it again.

Rode to gym to workout. Winds from SW @ 25 MPH gusting to 35 MPH. Temp around 45 degrees with a windchill of 38 degrees. Round trip of only 10 miles but felt longer due to winds. Good ride anyway.

Ugh. 10 miles of power work: big ring slow cadence sprints up a ~3% grade. This crappy winter weather has been keeping me off the bike, killing my fitness...and The Season starts in two weeks!

Another STELLAR day in North Central Florida.. not only was the weather super but we today we broke the 1,000 mile/year barrier. So far this year we have ridden 1014 miles with the 30 for today. After our ride we decided to stop and have a fresh strawberry shake at Ferris in Floral City to celebrate... as if we really needed a reason

My partner enjoys searching quarries for rock specimens and we are skint till Friday so he decided to try and walk there (10 miles each way) despite suffering serious arthritis which means he cant cycle.

There was no way I was walking that so I rode my bike at first down the canal which was fine until a rest stop when I parked my bike against an old building wall.

When we moved off my front tyre was flat and flopping everywhere. It had a slimy tube in it, fat lot of good that was!

Anyway I took the wheel off and removed the tube, finding the puncture immdiately ( one use of slimy tubes).

I had a spare tube with me and proceeded to try and fit it. Problem.

I have a Turbo Morph (type without the gauge) pump and only now discovered that I cant get it on my valve without seperating the bit that attaches it to the pump from the pump body.

I had to twist it to get it to fit onto the valve and when I fitted the valve through the rim and attempted to pump it up I found I couldnt get the pump head to turn because of my spokes so couldnt pump the tyre up when it was back on the bike.

Curses aplenty were threatening as I was 4+ miles from home and didnt want to end my ride and push a lame bike home.

Luckily for me there was a Halfords LBS just behind the canal so off I stomps to ask kindly for their help.

The guy there kindly put my wheel back together and pumped it up and even he gave up with the damn Morph.

And there's me thinking it would be hugely embarrassing to have to ask for help fixing a puncture, mmm.

So I put the wheel back on the bike but by then my partner had got too cold and said he couldnt face walking up to the quarry and fancied going to Devisdale Field which is popular with dogwalkers and has pine trees which also interest him.

So we left the canal and headed for the main road beside Halfords and wandered up to the Field stopping to gather some Mexican White Pine cones he spotted in a driveway, he's cheeky lol.

It was a slow ride for me as I had to keep to his pace but useful exercise still as I havent been well and missed two good rides out in the past fortnight tho it got very cold later.

I definitely need warmer gloves.
