Bontrager pro3V vs pro37 tlr carbon wheels ??
Hello everyone. I’m a newb to carbon wheels and xdr hubs. I’m trying to buy a second set of wheels for road use. I’ve found some new take offs Aeolus pro37’s with xdr hubs for 700 shipped. What do you think of this wheel set ? How does it compare to the Aeolus 3Vs ? Also, how do you feel about mounting 32mm tires on the 37s with 21mm internal rim width ? Thanks very much.

Have not had 3Vs, so can't offer a comparison.
If you don't want the Pro37s, let me know where they are and I'll buy them. Heck of a deal for $700.

Thanks mojo. Seemed like a good deal to me too. I’m hoping they are worth 700 in terms of their performance improvement over the stock alum bontrager paradigm comp 25’s. Never had carbon before so am not entirely sold on the benefits.

I have had both and I like the Pro 37's very much, in fact, I have a set I pulled from my Domane to use on my FX5, as I had another wheelset for the Domane. I also have the Pro 37's on my wife's bike. The Pro 3v's I feel are better for really wide gravel tires as they have a 25 internal width versus the 37's 21 internal, but both wheelsets performed nicely. $700 is a stellar price for those wheels as they are going to $1600 new.
The Pro37's are using the DT Swiss 350 internals as well, so that is an added benefit.

I paid the full $1400 or so for mine, and they have been "worth" it to me. My wife, on the other hand, sees no value in carbon wheels and is content with her aluminum wheels regardless of my efforts to convert her.

My FX5 came with those same wheels and moving to the Pro37's and changing out the stock tires will take off almost 3.5 lbs. So it was worth it to me. I can run smaller tires if I am going pure road, or throw some wider 38 or 40 on it if I am going off.

Ditto. I even tried to buy her the RSL wheels so I could steel her 37s but she said that she didn't see the point.

For that price, I doubt you'll regret switching from alloy to CF. 32s should be just fine at that internal rim width.

I did not give me wife the choice, I just came home with them and put them on her bike while she was out of town with her Mom.

25-28mm tl tires work best with 21mm internal width. I have/had these rims and they are great. Make sure you upgrade the ratchet to 36/54t. They're relatively light for their size; I think the claimed weight is <1500g. Take-offs for $700 is a steal.

But then again, she did not ask for any wheels, and was not really against it either, so we all win.
