Speedplay Frogs
I group ride with my local b c. and use Frogs because of the lateral float that my knees love. My cleats are wearing out and they are really hard to find and very expensive when they are found. What's the closest pedal to the Frog? I would rather not go with the Speedplay road pedals 'cause walking with the cleats is a pain.

I have 3 pairs of Frogs and two sets of cleats left. In about 7-8 years I’ll be in the same situation as you.

I think I've just about got my spare cleats and spare bearings for Frog rebuilds balanced, so I'll run out of both about the same time in a few years.
I went with Eggbeaters on my newest bike. I have to think about clipping out more with the Eggbeaters that the Frogs. I think the only other high-float option is the Time ATAC series, but no opinion on that.

Long time Frog user/fan here. As far as I know, the reality is there is nothing even remotely similar to Frogs out there now. I am now on the Time ATAC system. I like them, but nothing close to the free float of Frogs. I am using the 13 deg release cleat position and there is enough float for me, but I don’t need a ton of it. I briefly tried the 17deg position, but thought it was too slow on the release for MTB use.

They make the easy cleat that is 10° which gets pretty damn close to the frogs. I use the 10° on MTB and 17° on road bike.

Time ATAC (with any cleat) are nothing like Frogs to use in my experience. Nothing currently produced is. Nothing has that kind of free float. Try and use even half the free float of frogs on the 10 deg ATAC cleat and you will be popped out of the pedal (I have a set of 10 deg cleats).
I like the ATAC system a lot, I just don’t think it is at all the same in terms of free float as the Frogs.

Have used the frogs. On of my riding buddies is big time frog user and he has hoards of them stashed away. I tried his one time.

I wonder when the Peak Panic Buying / FOMO time for Frogs and Frog cleats will be (or was).

I have a few pairs of frogs with cleats but I use Zeros. Are you guys all using these on off road bikes?

Same reason a lot of people use SPDs to ride roads. The MTB shoe both SPD pedals and Frogs use has lugs that let you walk around (grocery or convenience stores, rest stops, SAG stops, restaurants, even campgrounds) without doing the duck walk - skating hybrid gait.

The cleats for the Speedplay Zero are recessed, so no problem in walking. I love my Frog Ti's, but I hope I never have to walk any distance in those G3 cleats.

Frogs are a little lighter. At least the Ti ones are.

I use Frogs on the MTB and have stocked up on pedals and cleats at insane prices. I have no choice or I got to flats and I detest flats. Flats still lock me in a bit more than I like since I use the alloy ones with pins for grip. On road I use their Light Action pedals and use walkable cleats. You can find knockoff cleat covers too. I don't walk that much while on the bike but the walkable cleats or cleat covers do let me walk without messing up the cleats.
