Hozan Tool Question

I'm a big fan of Hozan products.

I recently grabbed these (both are 36/40).
The finish is really rough which surprised me. They seem to be duplicates and bear a Hozan sticker

I showed them to a local mechanic and he was convinced that they were mountain bike specific.

I have searched what I can find online but no references.

Does anyone know what they are?

They are likely headset spanners for threaded headsets. You might ask a moderator to move this to the mechanics section there are people with way more knowledge there.

Agree--headset wrenches.

Hozan makes some great products. Their fourth hand is the best on the market.

Yes. Threaded headset wrenches. The 40mm and 36mm size fits many 1 1/8” threaded headsets. They probably made a 30/32mm set for 1” headsets.

Thank you all. I guess I'm just surprised by the poor finish, my experience with Hozan was always a better presentation with a smooth finish.

I can't find any representation of these online. I checked for old Hozan catalogs but can only find recent ones. Left me wondering if a previous owner added aftermarket stickers.. ..

Who rebrands their tools?? Forget the stickers--you think someone cast the Hozan name into the wrenches themselves?

Interesting configurations as the open ends are fastened to the handles with roll pins. I guess they could make one style of handle and add a range of open ends.

Speaking of Hozan, years ago I owned one of their famous Rock Ring Wrenches.

I agree that their Fourth Hand tool is great. Does double duty to tighten zip ties.

as to that finish.... it's Black Oxide, and serves multiple purposes.

...Hozan makes a lot of swell bicycle tools, many of which we never see in the US because in past years, distribution has been spotty here.
I'm a big fan, and back when internet availability took off and shipping was cheaper, I bought stuff that has been very helpful in my endeavors.

Company website says they've been around since the '50's, making electronics tools and equipment. I've never seen those headset wrenches.

And with minor modifications it can serve as an anti spoke windup tool for wheel building.

Why screw with a perfectly good tool, using a couple zipties you can stop it from levering open and just snip the zip when done. Never saw a video of this but it seemed like an obvious use of the tool when building with revolution spokes. Actually came up with the idea using the pedros version which I already had but it was such a crap tool I ordered the Hozan after the first wheel knowing it was a far superior tool despite the heavy eye rolling of my wife at the purchase of a new tool.
