Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Searching for a non-tapered full carbon fork with 25c clearance!

My titanium bike has an uber-lightweight Easton fork with full carbon parallel (non-tapered) 1-1/8" steerer with external headset bearings.

The only thing that stops this bike being perfect is the tyre capacity of the fork is 23c. The rear takes a 25.

The only non-tapered forks I've found with 25c capacity are alloy steerer type which I'm not interested in, partly because I'm a weight weenie and partly because I like that a ti bike with full carbon fork has zero potential corrosion issues.

Do any of you fine folks know where I can buy this elusive component? Many thanks!

Many thanks! The Futura looks like the one! 28c clearance. Less than £200 from Germany!

Is this based on a spec sheet or did you actually try a 25mm tire and find that it did not fit? Reason I ask is because usually the clearance limitations are on the rear, and I've not seen a carbon road fork that actually cannot accommodate at least a 25mm or 28mm tire.

It's an Easton EC90SL fork, old-school narrow but a really lovely light (330g) fork.

Rim is Kinlin XR22T, internal 19mm external 24mm, tyre is GP4000SII.

The 25c comes to within 1mm of inside faces of fork and occasionally touches - so it's too wide!. 23c has around 2mm clearance left and right. Actual measured width of the 23c with a Vernier is 26mm. No typo, it's 26mm. Assuming I keep the fork, I'll move to a 23c GP5000 when the GP4000 is worn. The 23c GP5000 is around 1mm narrower than the 23c GP4000 on that rim, I know this because I have the same width rim on another bike.

Contrary to your comment, the rear clearance is no issue, in fact the underside of the brake (SRAM Force, quite a tight geometry) is the limiting factor here, which allows only a 25c tyre. If I change the brake to a "taller" one (eg Ultegra) I would possibly get a 28c in there.

I just want say "thank you", as, months later, I finally got myself a Columbus Futura fork. It's transformed my titanium road bike! It weighed only 350g uncut and it will take a 30c tyre. I fitted 28c font and rear and it's made a huge difference to comfort on my rough Scottish roads. And it cost only £200! And it looks lovely!
