Group rides with bb creak?
I have a creak that's so far resisted treatment. It's definitely noticeable. Should I avoid group rides--which I want to try--until it's silenced?

What have you tried in terms of fixing it?

My group liked it because they could tell where I was and whether I was spinning up for a sprint or not
I finally got new bearings and have a quiet bike again. It creaked fro a good six months, I'd say.

our tandem invariably makes noise. You fix one thing, anther pops up. The eccentric is a recurring noise maker. It's just the nature of the stresses on a tandem.
Only one time has anyone complained. Guy looked at us, when we had a creak from the BB, concluded we were sketchy and said "Tandems shouldn't be in the paceline, go to the front or the back"
I said ok, we'll go to the front, droped the hammer, dialed it to 800 watts (x2, is it a tandem after all) motored off the front, never saw that group again.

I couldn't agree more actually. Brake squeal and BB creak can be fairly elusive, but RD adjustment is not rocket science.

I always carry a can of magic spray on group rides and have practiced casually leaning over and dousing their s*** while we ride.

Somewhat ironically, pretty much every post on this thread (including mine) was making light of the fact that even the best of bikes are just gonna make noise sometimes. The only one on this entire thread taking things too seriously is YOU.

Vast amount of BB creaks cyclists experience are unrelated to bearing quality and relate to installation method or lack of maintenance .
