am i imagining things?

Got a Park Tools truing stand recently and did a proper truing of my road bike's wheels. While going down a steep descent I was surprised that the bike felt more stable and less twitchy as I was going fast (for me, 40mph). Is this a known phenomena with trued wheels or am I imagining things?

The rim brakes work much better now too btw

Welcome to the World without the U2 album "Rattle and Hum" along with the missing rhythmic rubbing sound.

I guess it might depend on just how badly out of true the wheels were. I have my own truing stand too, and always true them up even when they get slightly out of true. But I can imagine a very untrue wheel making things feel wobbly…especially at higher speeds.

I suppose it depends on (1) how sensitive you are and (2) how out of true your wheels were to being with.

Some people say no, that can't happen.

I've had mild cases of shimmy disappear after truing the wheels on two different occasions, on two different bikes. So though a bad wheel isn't the only possible cause, I consider it one possible cause of shimmy.

OP,
Perhaps before working on the wheels the tension was off ...this can effect the ride quality...or cushiness.wobble of the ride.
Best, Ben
