Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Maybe you can go out in the boondocks, and see one of these.

Duh! Your definition was east or west of the Mississippi. He is actually south of the Mississippi.

If you look at the map of Mexico, Merida is actually on the south coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

You're not making sense.

I've been east of the Mississippi my whole life, except for the 70s, almost in their entirety. I enjoyed my time there immensely.
If my luck holds, I can have as much time south of it as I've had east of it.

Actually, the east coast is on the Caribbean Sea.* The north, and west coasts are on the gulf.

*True, the east coast of mainland Mexico is on the gulf. The east coast of the peninsula is on the Caribbean. Us peninsulares don't identify much with the rest of the country. For a time we were our own country, and identified more with Europe than with Mexico. In those days, travel to and from Europe was easier than travel to and from Mexico.

Not sure I'll be doing much for the glory and honor of the West Coast this week - not only has Mrs. GeneJockey's dental emergency* thoroughly discombobulated my week, but also I was planning to ride indoors in any case.

*barely slept Monday night, had to take off work and run hither and yon yesterday and off to emergency root canal this morning.

That's my definition for the teams, because I have to put the fly-over people somewhere.

I just pulled up the Strava group, to check in, and it switched to metric by itself. People's names got initalized.

Thought I was doing 25 miles, wound up with 27. Weather was good except the last half hour was too hot and too sunny.
