squirtdad I've been visiting that winery since well before I could legally drink. It's located across the street from the High School in Morgan Hill and they used to have a coke machine that had better prices than the HS machines. Now that you mention it, I think there was a kid in the back with a brazing torch. I never connected the two....

Making wine is rewarding. The juice is relatively inexpensive, the process is fairly straight forward, and the results are usually really good. At one point, my wife made a comment about how good the wine was. My daughters chimed in and said it wasn't hard to do. You need familiy to keep you humble. She is kind of right. It is just a matter of not making mistakes. I have made a few. Making labels and putting the capsules on to give it a finished look is always great, so that your friends think you are a pro. We came up with a label like we were a legit winery.

oops meant trader joe's corrected post, but this trader joes is maybe 15 miles from the winery so not sure how hyper local they get in sourcing

Then there's the competition. Being French, the cork probably isn't standard and you would need a special corkscrew to open it.
