OP here , same here 120psi on my 23's several years ago and at the time it was pretty common , rock hard , I still use the squeeze test with thumb and index but the trend these days seems to be towards 25's and 28's and 100-110 psi is Ok for me on my current 25's - but if someone says they like 140psi , I say go for it , I'm not gonna get my jock strap twisted because of it .

My 25's running clinchers I stop around 100 because I haven't been flatting and its a tad more comfortable. I went out last week and did not have my floor pump. The thumb test showed they were pretty low so I added a touch with my compact pump and went for it. They were probably 70-80 psi . Pinch flat on the front around mile 24 ....topped up and made it home but its def a flat.

Tubeless 32's at 70 psi are amazing for comfort. I go 190lbs or so ....clinchers at 60 psi are never gonna work for me.
