FSA Adventure Cranks
Anyone used one of these cranks? They are available in a couple of models, SL-K Light and Tempo on the FSA site and I've seen the Gossamer spec'd on some bikes. They show they are available in a 48/32 and 46/30, which seems like it would be a good combo. I currently am running a 46/36 CX crank with an 11/28 cassette, have a 11/32 on the way, this could be a good combo for a variety of terrains. Thoughts, experiences?

Seems like a good idea. My CX started as a 46/36 with 11-28 rear cassette. This was not enough low end for me since I am a wennie on hills. So I switched to a 46/34 and 11-34 rear. Pretty good so far but would be nice to have one more lower gear just in-case. So it depends on how hilly your area is but maybe error on too low gears vs not enough. If you are changing the crank out go with the 46/30. Might need to swap your rear derailler to a medium cage to fit your 11-32 cassette. Just my $0.02...

I also would use a 46 & 30 or even a 44 & 30 chaining set if cranksets were moderately priced and available. Given a 700x35, or larger, tire and an 11-28 or an 11-32 cassette, I'm convinced that an 46 & 36 is less than ideal.

Other than the FSA website I haven't seen them online either. The first I saw of one was the Gossamer model that someone had taken off a new bike and had for sale on the Facebook group, Online Swap Meet. He was asking $100 for it and I would have bought it but it was a 175 and I need a 172.5. I've only seen the Gossamer as a new bike spec, its not on the FSA website.
This is my only bike, use it for both gravel and road rides with different wheels, and that is why it appeals to me. I already know that the 36/28 isn't low enough on gravel and don't expect much change with the 32. I was thinking the 48/32 would be best because I already spin out the 46/11 on road downhill, though it may be better to spin out there than walk up somewhere else...

I'm also going to buy the FSA 46/30 carbon cranks for my RLT9 as soon as they are available. A 30 small ring paired with a 11-40 cassette would be optiminal climbing gears for adventure riding or bikepacking.

I have the 46/32 on my Specialized Sequoia and they seem to be great. I've yet to really put them to the test, though.

It seems like they are being put on some Specialized bikes, like the Sirrus, but I haven't seen them free in the wild.

A crankset that will accept a 36 & 30 set will have a 94mm or smaller bcd for the inner chainring.

I too was looking for info on those "Adventure cranks"....but...
I saw that thread and the first crank listed...and there was a 46/30 IRD Defiant in my size on EBay for $100USD (50% retail), LOL. Just need to find a nice JIS 68x118mm BB. Lots of SQ taper around, but many of these sub-compact cranks use odd-sized sq taper.
Ironically IRD's nicest SQ taper BB called "Defiant" (QB-95), doesn't come in 118mm spindle. WTF.
It seems like they are being put on some Specialized bikes, like the Sirrus, but I haven't seen them free in the wild.

Ebay has the crankset for $90.99.I believe that is retail price,but the only set I found online.
But did not search very long.

i heard the FSA cranks are mostly being supplied to OEM bike companies...i'm interested too, but have not been so impressed by FSA crank shifting or BB's in the past, so am looking more at the Praxis Zayante crank. Praxis may be more expensive, but their overall quality and chainring reputation is stellar.

I am interested in this crankset, but would prefer something like 39/24 or 42/26. Want to know if I can change the inner ring.
All sites list the inner ring as 80 mm BCD, but the picture shoes 5 arms. I can only fine 80mm 4 arm chain rings.
Does any body have one of these, is it a 4 arm or a 5 arm? Is it REALLY a special 5 arm 80mm?
