Here is my '98 Magnum Opus with Vibrant "Curly" Stays. I got it as a F/F and built it a 'Townie'

Check out Historic Hetchins, lots of great information and a fabulous gallery. https://www.hetchins.org/

Well this is all I got. Not a Hetchins, But a Jackson built by the same people who build the new Hetchins so I guess it counts.

Its currently sitting in my closet sans a few parts

thank you. the mafacs were not my first choice but it has a long reach to the rims for 700s but the CS seem tight for 27" wheels.

Zach nice Jackson.

i've wanted a Hetchins for a long time, but the only examples in my size (53) that have appeared for sale online have gone for over $3000, which is a bit too rich for me.

Probably not what you are after as this is more a "anti-Hetchins" as it is subtle and tasteful

But that's why it appeals to me as I never like the curly and elaborate lugged models. This was built for a club TT racer in 1962, and is very similar to their track frame with road fittings. It is sort of Hetchin's "over the top" in that ever lug has a long extended spear point added. It was also built for a Campagnolo gruppo with shifter braze-on's made from a campy clamp-on band, and roller cable guides over the BB.

There's more shots here:

I once asked a girlfriend "Would you like to come in and see my 'etchin's?" but she wasn't interested. Whether I actually had any wasn't important at the time.

(Nice!)

My cousins from Alaska visited last year, and I took them around Manhattan. We were discussing where to eat while we were on the street, and I said, "I know there's a tapas bar near here. Does that sound good?" My cousin's wife looked at me like I was some kind of weirdo, and I innocently asked, "What's wrong with that? You're not into tapas?"

It took me a minute to realize she didn't know the word, so she thought I was saying "topless." And she was probably wondering why I suggested topless and kept such a straight face.

Isn't language wonderful?

And apropos of nothing C&V though he does ride a bike, the Red Sox fired Bobby Valentine today.

You may now return to your regularly schedule viewing of Hetchins's.

Otis, that's really well done. I like the way the center-pull calipers are even drilled with different sized holes.
Everything is highly polished. I used to be a perfectionist, now I just feel sorry for them

Years ago when one of my brothers moved east, he got a similar reaction to a CoWorker one day asking if they ever went to Swap Meets. The CoWoorker was obviously thinking of something other than a fleamarket.

Otis what nice Plane Jane does it have a model name? DID you register it?

You need to cut those fender stays and get a different saddle.

The original build sheet lists it as a "Mountain King" model, although it does not really share too many features with one. It is on the Hetchin's registry, on which they list it as a "road bike".

That bike isn't worth a penny over $2,993.

fender1, didn't your mother ever tell you that if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it? I don't like the fender stays or the saddle either, but jeez, man.

The seat is gone for a great Honey Brooks, I need better diagonal cutters to tackle the stays.
