Sometimes I think about getting DaBrim. On my recent ride across the desert I would wear my helmet in the mornings but switch to my big straw hat from 10am-5pm. I suppose I could try doing a DIY DaBrim, just grab an election lawn sign and cut a nice brim out of that and duct tape it to a helmet.

In the greater LA area, using time is more useful than distance. For a trip from point A to point B, the time may vary widely depending upon the time of day. A trip from point A to another point the same distance away, but in a different direction than point B, may also vary widely in time.
