Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Movie trivia. Identify.

Just watched one from 2005 (currently free on YouTube).

The whole thing is rather depressing except for possibly this scene at the end. #CyclingContent

P.S. Another scene (not shown below) has generated numerous internet parodies/memes.

Sometimes I think about getting DaBrim. On my recent ride across the desert I would wear my helmet in the mornings but switch to my big straw hat from 10am-5pm. I suppose I could try doing a DIY DaBrim, just grab an election lawn sign and cut a nice brim out of that and duct tape it to a helmet.

I survived I-95, but the Wawa near the office is closed for a total renovation.

Wind would be your enemy in that case. It's a nice gizmo. I would never have bought it for myself, but it is a useful gift. I just leave it on the helmet full time.

That's like the olde days when each town set its clock by when they thought noon was.

I hope to ride today after work. I was not sure i was going to recover enough but I feel ok. Just a short 30 to 45 minute excursion. Rain is likely so it might not happen.

In the greater LA area, using time is more useful than distance. For a trip from point A to point B, the time may vary widely depending upon the time of day. A trip from point A to another point the same distance away, but in a different direction than point B, may also vary widely in time.

Velocity includes speed and time. You cannot have velocity without both speed and time.

More specifically, velocity is the direction of speed, and speed is distance over time.

When the sun was at its zenith. Makes running a railroad difficult, especially if you try to run > 1 train/ track, even if they're going the same direction, let alone opposite directions.
