Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My main ride is still tubeless, though. These are for my wife's bike and my Colnago.

That's what I got, too, but as a spare to carry during longer rides. It's so small I don't even feel it in my jersey's pocket . The price is great too; LBS in my area are selling TPU tubes for 5x that price.

I switched to 50/34 on my main bike in 2012. It did feel weird and took some getting used to. Now I'm fine with it but I didn't think I would like it for a while.
The other bike has a 52/39/30 triple. I didn't use the 30 yesterday but I did use it Saturday on a steep thing and was happy to have it.

Experience has been fine. You will wait three weeks or so for the goods.

I got an ad from Benotto Mexico in my email this morning. A supple, lightweight tire, with puncture protection, for around $20. CST. I'm gonna give it a go. Alongside that ad is an ad for bar tape in the $50 range. What is wrong with this picture? Bar tape has become very expensive, here, in the last ten years.

I had just begun thinking about looking for another Gatorskin. When Bob is here I have to have two of them on his bike, as he is quite prone to getting flats. That would leave my bike with none, unless I chose to ride the decidedly inferior 414, with two 32mm Gatorskins on it.

Once again the new cycling tech has blown by me. Only here, in the last few days, have I ever heard of tpu tubes.

I've said it before. Arising at 0400 is like magic. It feels like mid-morning at 0800.

I recently switched to a 50/34 from a 52/36 because those were rings that were in stock at the shop and cheap and I really don't like it. Using a 11-32 cassette currently but it doesn't look like switching to a 11-30 would improve anything. Buying the wrong chainrings is such an annoyingly expensive mistake.

I'm usually a 5 AM guy, and 8 still feels like mid morning.

Well lately it's been more like 6:30, but I've been going to bed later and waking up multiple times a night to help soothe a screaming infant

I went from 50/34 x 11-30 on the old bike to 52/36 x 11-32 on the new bike and like it much better. But there aren't many long steep climbs here either.

All of my bikes have 50/34 rings, and I don't have any issues with them. I also have 11-34 cassettes. I rarely use the little ring, but also rarely find myself in 50/11.
