Folding tandem vs tandem rack

I have an Electra tandem that I used in my neighborhood and considering either the KHS T20 folding tandem or a tandem rack from House of Tandems https://www.houseoftandems.com/about...-cars-pg88.htm and looking for advice. I would still mainly use the Electra but would like to get out for longer rides on local bike trails. I have a Toyota mini van but getting the Electra in is challenging with the height. I am going to try taking the front wheel off and see if it will go up the middle.

I was thinking the KHS T20 will be more transport friendly but not sure if the fit will be good as I am 6' tall and so my autistic son who rides on back. Also not sure if the process of folding/unfolding will compare to putting the Electra on a rack. Wondering about the ride of the folding tandem vs the Electra which is a very nice upright riding position and a large bike that I like the geometry. Any thoughts will be appreciated!

I often use a regular hitch mounted rack to carry a tandem, hung by the top tube. You can take the wheels off to make it a little narrower, but I usually don’t bother as mine is barely wider than my Subaru Outback, if at all.

Thanks for posting. I will take a look again at my Electra which has a curved frame and don't think it is possible to use a rack where the bike hangs by the top tube.
