Coaster brake question

I had a bike donated last week that has a coaster brake. The arm that bolts to the frame was off and the locknut that holds the arm on was gone. I found a nut and greased the bearings and reassembled. It pedals fine and stops fine, but the "back pedal" to engage the brakes seems to take more travel than it should (maybe 45 degrees of the circle). Is there an adjustment for this? Thanks!

You must have the arm installed. We’re you able to find another one?

Sorry for the "not enough coffee" post. I did receive the arm with it, it was just off and missing the locknut that holds the cover, arm, and washer on. The arm is installed and bolted to the frame and the brakes work good, just questioning why is seems like and excessive amount of back pedal to engage the brake.
