Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I killed my Cannondale SuperSix :(

But on a brighter note I did not injure myself more than I did.
Been riding 20+ years, so this was quite a shock.

I rear-ended a parked truck that was on the access road. I never saw it sitting there.
Severely sprained my left wrist, and broke a bone in my right arm, which now has a metal plate. Also broke my helmet, so I'm very lucky not to have a head injury.

This was my dream bike, so I'm trying to figure out where to go from here. But I will ride again. Never even got around to removing the dork disc, sigh.

Should I get another Supersix, or a Specialized Tarmac or Roubeaux? I am leaning towards a specialized.
Cheers!
M.

Don't forget if you bought it new they usually will give you a great deal on a crash replacement frame.

That sucks! But on the flip side, you'll never run into a parked truck ever again!

Is this the reason for the crash? https://cdn.thatssotrue.com/2012/2/23...1330031390.gif

Meh, that will buff right out.

+1 on crash replacing your current frame, if it's your dream bike.

Good that you are OK.

I remember when I first started riding, I heard about a local rider who rear-ended a parked truck on a fast descent and died.

I know a guy who rides a Madone that rear ended a parked truck, totaled his bike, and woke up several hours later in the bed of the pick up truck. Fortunately he lived to ride again.

I would get a 2014+ Supersix Evo. The offer so many models in different groupsets, Hi-MOd or normal, just incase your worried about $$. I just got the normal mod Ultegra Racing Edition and I love it.

If the components and groupset are still ok, just get a SS EVO Hi-Mod frame and swap everything over. It's nice to look at different frames but keep in mind you may have to get used to a new geometry, which means at least a couple weeks of adjustment and maybe numb hands/feet/legs/ass etc. until you get everything lined up. It took me over a month to finally adjust to my own Evo and only now I am really enjoying the bike.

I'd just replace the frame and any other components that are done for.

The hi mod is about 50 grams lighter than the regular, but a pretty good step up in price.

Just sayin...I have a hi mod but no way I'd have that if I was not in the biz. Seriously.

Weight aside it's a different frame profile and rides different.

I know. I have two.

For the additional money, I am not sure it is worth it for the fun rider folks.

My shop is checking on frames, but I haven't heard yet. I wasn't sure how big a bargain I would get on the frame.
I know I would need 1 ultegra shifter/brake. I guess it depends on what Cannondale offers.
As far as new bikes, I am not digging the colors schemes on the Cannondales in my price range. Hopefully the 2015s will be out soon and I will like them better.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone.
