Helmets
So far I've been riding with a budget Giro helmet I got in a deal when I purchased my bike. Helmet was cheap (Stylus), and decided to prioritize the bike and get a more high end helmet when the next paycheck arrives. Anyway time has come to see if I can find something that doesn't feel like a kettle on the top of my head. Unfortunately all the dealers in my part of the region only deals Bell and Giro. Nothing wrong about that, but I prefer to check out other brands too.
My eyes has been on the Kask Mojito. Managed to find a store that sold them on my trip to Copenhagen last week and tried one on and it fits perfectly. However, I now see that you can get a pretty good deal on the Giro Aeon as well. Both fits me, both looks pretty decent, what to choose? Any other helmets that I should probably spare a couple of seconds of my time to check out? Specialized Prevailed looks quite good but oh so expensive. Budget is around $200 (give or take).

I have an Aeon and LOVE it. Exceptionally light and well ventilated, and fits me like a glove. Like the looks too.

My local store wanted $500 for the Aeon, so Im ordering online. Difficult without proper testing. It helps hearing peoples experiences with the different two, or other helmets. Both the Mojito and the Aeon fits perfectly in size L.

I will only wear Specialized, period. They are the only company to submit to Snell testing. Snell does the testing themselves. So you don't get the inhouse test that companies can do themselves. And then pop a sticker on saying it passes the safety tests.
So for me it's Specialized or nothing.

The Specialized helmets sounds very nice. The problem is that literally no stores here carry them. I can probably do a pretty good deal outside Norway (which is expensive as hell, $500 for the Prevail), but ordering helmets without trying them on, sounds fishy.

Just moved up from a 10 year old cheap Giro transit to a Lazer O2. Really liked the adjustment on the Lazer.

In the end any of these helmets if in a serious crash will not benefit anyone too much if you take a hit to the head. I look for something that has loads of vents to keep cool while having easy to adjust straps for fit. That said I have a LG but unsure of the model right off hand. I think it was like a $70 helmet I bought from PB last year.

Moved from a Giro to a Specialized after 1) I test rode a Roubaix with a spesh demo helmet and was wowed and 2) I read a Consumer Reports article where a spesh helmet was one of only two that met a higher testing level than the standard.

Oh sorry, didn't realize that I was logged in when I copied the link. The other one is a Bontrager youth helmet. The Specialized model is the Echelon.

I loved my S-works, which died a noble death to save my noggin when I went down hard in a crit in May. I am wearing a Giro Atmos for now, but as soon as my team's new shop sponsorship goes into effect (specialized shop), I am getting a new S-works.

I have the Giro Aeon, and I like it. It fits well, is well-ventilated, doesn't weigh much, and comes in a nice high-visibility color.
However, you might want to keep a look out for the POC Octal. It claims to be much more protective than existing helmets, while still being light and well-ventilated. It also comes in a high-visibility color.

I probably will go for the Aeon. Just have to wait for the right deal to come around. Many online stores (which ships to Norway) are pretty much out of stock of everything except colors that nobody wants for a reason.
Yeah, I've read about the MIPS system from another forum. Sounds very impressive, however there are so few helmets which actually features this system, and none of these helmets will I be able to try on before any purchase. All of them look pretty odd aswell.

Bummer about not being able to readily try some on. Maybe some of your cycling friends can help share theirs?
You're right about having concern ordering helmets online without trying them on. Like buying shoes sight unseen, buyer beware.
Hold out for a better option than blindly ordering a helmet that fits someone else's odd-shaped dome perfectly.

Try them for yourself, though. At least try that one; someone should have one handy.
