Oh, and another question for the experts: Do you sleeve your cables with liner tubing where they pass through the cable guide under the BB? My bike started out with them sleeved, but the one on the rear cable migrated back into the chain stay. There was no visible damage to the guide.

My Rotts had a contest to see who could embowel a doll fastest. Only Kong toys or Nylabones for them. Just a couple days ago Venus ripped the stuffing out of her favorite doll.

I had a few scraps, but didn't use them. I'll put some fresh stuff on when I redo them. I did slip a piece on the FD cable with that in mind, but I don't think it actually contacts the edge.

Related fact: one of my undergrad classmates was Kozo Shimano, who ran North American operations for Shimano before retiring in 2008. I knew who he was but did not know him personally. They said he had a really nice bike at school.

Went to the doctor today for a quick blood pressure check. Blood pressure is fine, faa requires it. Anyways, while I was there I mentioned my hand (it has gotten better), and he was shocked that I was on the bike for four hours. He actually showed concern, and said the max cardio activity I should be doing is 60 mins max three times a week. He said that hours of cardio has been proven to cause heart problems in Endurance athletes. I don’t plan on stopping what I am doing anytime soon, Thoughts anyone?

Rarely, you can get scar tissue in the heart but I believe this is really for ultra-distance activities. I see nothing wrong with 4 hours on the bike. Or even more. One of my former cycling friends was a commercial pilot and rode/rides lots and was not told to limit his riding.
He wasn’t referring strictly to me. He was speaking about everyone in general.

On a personal level, 2016 was the year my poor old boy died (in August, when I thought that was the worst thing in the year). I think it's since then that media death has hit me harder; "It's Quiet Uptown" has been rolling in my head today and it's brutal.

The funny thing is I saw random high HR numbers, but thought the monitor was screwing up. Cardiologist told me that HR's are really good at counting beats, good or bad. I never felt anything while it was happening, but doesn't change the possible outcome of syncope, or death.
