Is It Possible to Mount a Headlight onto Shimano Steps eMotor?
I have a Shimano Steps mid-drive motor on my tadpole trike - meaning the motor is located in front with the pedals. I'd like to get a good headlight for the trike and the best place to mount it would be on the motor itself - but I'm not sure if this is possible. Has anyone done this? It doesn'tt mattter how it's powered - separate battery for it would do.
If so, which specific headlight (and mount) did you use, or which might you recommend?
Thanks!

I made a headlight mount from a short piece of PVC conduit, a flat strip of aluminum 3/4" x 1/16", and a few screws. There are three plugs in the top of the motor housing. Leave the middle one alone, but remove the other plugs, front most and rear most. Under the plugs you will see some female machine screw threads. All I did was wrap the aluminum strip around the PVC, then bend as necessary to establish a flat tab to match the holes in the motor casing, drill holes through the strip and insert screws. I put a small sheet metal screw through the strip into the PVC to hold in place. Paint to match. It will look like a handle and most lights for handlebars will work.
Edit - I use Knog Road Blinders, because I like the way they flash, although they have several modes of light: spot, wide beam, both at once and alternating flash. I have one 9 years old and it works like new.
