My frame has LEMOND stamped on the crown,seat stays at seat post and top of both sides of bottom bracket shell with english threads.

The frame size won't be the issue - the limiting factor will be the gap between the chain stays and between the fork blades, and they won't vary by frame size

My Rolf Vector Pros are well past 50,000 miles (I'm 185 lb) and apart from some new bearings in the front, years ago, they've never been touched. They remain perfectly straight and spin for ages - the only downside is they're on the heavy side (~1800g/pr, including tape and skewers) - still be the best wheels I've ever owned.

Same stampings on my frameset except for the Lemond stamping only on the
top of the NDS BB shell. But for the Ital BB, our bikes are close cousins. I always
get compliments on it when I do the ESVA ride on it.

I found a 60cm Zurich from 1999. I spread the frame, checked alignment and parallelism, and installed Bontrager RLs. And fitted it out with Ultegra R8000.

Only issues are 1) I did a terrible tape job: I have to redo that, and 2) its a 1" fork with a quill adapter. Kind of a kludge. If I can find a 2002 or so Zurich or Maillot Jaune, which has a 1-1/8 fork, I'll switch it out. For now, though, it rides sweet. If I keep this I may put a Ritchie fork in it.

They're great! So is the gear. Purchased this hoodie in 1997 and it's still in 1997 condition. Have used it as my cold weather base layer ever since. It'll be usable in 2037, no doubt.

Back in 2008, at the Trexlertown Velodrome swap meet, I actually saw an older Greg LeMond as he was about to take a ride on a LeMond bike with some friends.

I have held onto one of these fantastic machines - 1998 Zurich, Ultegra kit. No pics as I am wintering in Costa Rica and the bike is back home in Atlanta. The bike served as recreational road ride for 10 years then commuter for several more but been in storage since.

I am thinking of converting to a bike packing rig specifically for 'Northwoods Route' (I can't post links or pics until I have 10 pts as I'm new here) which is like 600 miles around Lake Superior. Anyone have experience converting to 650b? Will I be shot on-sight if I try this?

Tire clearance will be tight for sure but wider tubeless less air required for this mixed route.

James, always a pleasure to ogle your bikes. This is the latest version of my 2002 Poprad. I changed the stem to a VO tall stack, mounted a small rack, and a new set of wheels I purchased from PBK for really cheap. They are Novatec 30 rims/hubs, heavy, sturdy with inner width of just under 20mm. I wanted some wider rims but just could not commit to a lot of money. I had looked at these before, saw another reduction in the price, and a 15% sale to get to under $160 shipped. I have a couple of 12 miles rides on them with 32mm Bontrager R2 with latex tubes. I just received a set of GK 32mm slicks in brown/black that I had ordered with the wheels, but had to wait a week or so for them. Not an issue. For that price level, the wheels feels quite good. The Tektro 559 calipers replaced the original Shorty 4 cantilevers a while ago. It will be a few days before this area gets dug out from the latest storm. Where I live took the worst part of it as it blew through. Official is 10.50" in Dagsboro, DE., I am 6 miles east of there, it looks more like 12 or so here. I know the roads have to be drifted over in a lot of places.

Not such a good picture, but too nasty and too much snow for outdoors right now.

This is my 2002 LeMond Zurich Triple. I love this bike and have had a lot of good rides on it. I bought this bike new in April 2002 for $1800 on sale. I think it listed for around $1920 or something like that. 52/42/30 crank with a 12-25 9sp cassette. Ultegra components. It's not my main bike anymore as I generally ride CF bikes now but it's still a good ride. With that triple you can pretty much ride up anything including hills that I probably shouldn't be on!

Glad to see I'm not the only one holding/hoarding Lemond bikes. I kept finding bikes here in the area for under $500 that folks were getting rid of. Allowed me to ride some of the ones I'd wanted to (Zurich's and Maillot Juane's, Aeroluminum series). My first Lemond, a 2000 Lemond Tourmalet 525 frame and fork, got an upgrade about 8 years ago from Shimano Tiagra drive train and Rolf Vector wheels to Campy Centaur and some custom built Ultegra hubs and Mavic Open Pros. I love the bike and have given it a break as I ride four others; a 2003 Lemond Wayzata and a 2005 Lemond Fillmore here in town and during lunch, and either a 2002 Buenos Aires f or a 2002 Nevada City 520 frame I built up with Campy Chorus for longer rides. The steel 853 and the 'Spine' bikes are my favs; the Aeroluminum (an Alpe D'Huez) took some getting used to; it feels like riding a wooden bike.

This caught my eye, being a Wayzata with a drop bar. I have a 2002 Poprad that I have considered putting mustache type bars and bar end shifters on it. I likely will never do it, but it is still an idea I think about occasionally. I have that set up now on a Fuji Ace, that is probably where it is going to stay. The Poprad is one of my favorite bikes to ride; comfortable, adaptable, and fast enough for me. I have no thoughts of putting drop bars on the Fuji.

The laid back geometry of my Buenos Aires isn’t as comfortable as it once was (which actually means I’m not as flexible as I once was). I turned the seat post around and voila - it’s just fine now.

The Wayzata and Fillmore were ebay finds that had been relisted a couple of times before the sellers accepted my offers. The Wayzata was a complete bike that needed some TLC (chain, new tires & tubes, a shifter clean out, and tune up) to make it road worthy. The Fillmore was just frame and fork and a slow project. I built some of it out of the parts bin and some of it off FB market place before rounding it out with some drive train parts from an online retailer. I've got it set up fixie right now (direct drive train, no brakes) and it is like riding on rails!

I know this has been posted before in other threads, but, I am adding it to this one. 2001 Tourmalet, 853 steel, spline Lemond. The only thing original on this bike is the material the frame was built from. I still have the original steel fork, but when I decided to put a 6600 group set on it, I also went with a threadless CF fork and threadless stem. This bike was a real mess when I acquired it. I stripped it to bare metal and had it powder coated, then rebuilt with mostly older Tiagra 9 speed. I saw a 6600 DR's and brakes in great shape for a great price, matched them with 6750 black crank set and 4600 10 speed brifters, along with a set Vuelta SLR wheels/hubs. The bike lost close to 2 lbs. I already really liked the bike, the upgrades just put it on another level. Along with my Poprad, it is one of my favorite rides. It is nimble, quick and very comfortable. Another thanks to Spaghetti Legs for the Profile fork that really completed the new set up.

My favorite build that was done by me. Just a terrific ride and ice grey 6600 is a favorite group set of mine.
