What you need to understand is that cyccommute knows much better than short people what works for short people. His views have not been tainted with the impurities of first hand experience.

I mean, what the heck would Emily Batty (top XC Racer who is 5'3" and rides 29ers) know about short women on 29ers?

Your petite women friends clearly don’t know whats good for them either. Little women are like that. They need tall men to explain these things to them.

Lol!!!

Here is my petite lady friend from last night's ride on her 29er. She's 5' tall at best. She just doesn't know how bad she's got it. I am going to point her to this forum so psychocommute can set her straight!!

You just gave a perfect example of why stand-over is a bad way to size a bike.

Also, since you brought this up as an example of the high standover of 29ers, it is worth noting that the Top Fuel actually provides a counterexample. The standover height listed for the small Top Fuel is pretty in line with what you would have expected for small 26" bikes with the same travel. What is different is that the standover hieght for the medium, med/large, and up is LOWER than than on most 26ers of the same travel.

What the heck is a 29" frame?
The largest size in the chart is 24" for someone who is 6'6"
29" must be for 7' and taller !

I stood over my center tube just now.
My sack dangles and touches the bar.
Either the bike is too large or my sack is too slack

So Google had nothing for “29er Frame”? It must be broken, try again tomorrow.

Put on a well fitting pair of bibs and nothing will dangle.

Well, either get a smaller bike or castrate yourself. At this point, I think we're pretty indifferent.

29 inch wheel, btw. It's a 29er. They're arguing about whether short people can ride them. Pictures of a short woman looking really badass on one seems to have settled the issue.
