Hood replacement question
2007 Specialized Tricross Comp here needing new hoods. Is there any way to replace the hoods without removing the shift cables at the lever? The shift cables are outside connecting to the levers at the sides, rather than routed under the bar tape. Doesn't seem possible but thought I'd ask.

You could push out the lever's pivot pin and pull the brake lever and shifter assembly off of the base, then remove the hood and replace it. Reinstall the lever/shift assembly. Note that Shimano STIs have a set screw under the lever that retains the pivot pin so it has to be removed first.
Alternatively, loosen the entire lever assembly' clamp screw and pull the entire lever away from the bar's clamp band. Then peel the hood off toward the back of the assembly and replace with the new one.

Thanks much! Will take a look at those options.
