Low density steel !!!
OK, so it is a brittle intermetallic compound which makes ultrastrong low-density steel with large ductility, but why quibble.
It is mostly real steel with nano-sized aluminium crystals acting as "fibres" in a composite to reduce and control micro fractures. Another neat technology from Korea.

Definitely neat. Now, let's give it to the engineers to see what applications they can use it for.

Geeesh, everybody knows this already:
"...We found that alloying of nickel catalyses the precipitation of nanometre-sized B2 particles in the face-centred cubic matrix of high-aluminium low-density steel during heat treatment of cold-rolled sheet steel..."

I'm not sure if there are that many Al afficianados out there (Cult of CAAD excepted).
