Howdy from Austin
Thanks for having me! Been lurking awhile. Just got into cycling a year ago and seem to spend all my free time at it now. I also tinker with everything- fixing trucks, amps, turntables, whatever so been wanting to get started on bikes. Was just given a 1982 Nishiki Comp II frame in bad shape but my size, so will be a fun first project building it up. Have a ton of FNG questions already. I'll definitely be starting a thread in Vintage bike sometime soon. Thanks in advance!

Welcome from Dallas.
Your lucky since Austin is also a great cycling city and there are more hills than DFW.
Austin is more like SoCal which is also my home.
I love cycling the Austin river trails.

Thanks. Im really lucky to have a paved bike trail by my house thats about 5 miles in the hills to a park with 30 miles of singletrack. Not bad for city living!

My one functioning bike is a 1999 Trek 520. Been slowly converting it from a touring bike to an all road/gravel/bikepacking machine with lots of vintage XTR parts. I ride it to the park and back but look forward to hitting the hardpack there. Still gotta do the tires and drop bar but its getting close to ready to give it a try.
