Hello from Wales (UK)

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum, but not to cycling!
I'm in my 70s now, a road cyclist since my teens. In my youth I competed in time trials and hill climbs, then with age graduated on to Audax and club runs. Now it's Sunday rides (50-100k) with a coffee and cake stop somewhere.
My main cycle is a Mercian which I built up around 10 years ago. I also have a classic 1981 Holdsworth Special which I restored as a labour of love, and a winter bike set up as a single speed on a Dan Shotton 531 frame (Dan was a frame builder in the 1980s in Bristol UK).
It's great to see that steel frames still have so many fans!
Jim

Bore da!

Welcome Jim. Although I'm a 'Swansea Jack' now living in Port Talbot (dad was a steelworker) I worked in Cardiff from the mid-80's until the end of 2001 and our daughter went to university there.

BTW what Mercian do you have?

Good to hear from you Welshboy. I've lived in Wales for 26 years, moving here from Bristol via the Falkland Islands!
I have a Mercian Pro (lugged) frame in emerald green. Ultegra (old style in shiny silver) hubs seat pin brakes and headset, with grey Ultegra rear mech. Nitto quill stem and bars, Fizik saddle, Mavic open pro rims.

There'll be a welcome in the Valleys for you - but don't forget your waterproofs. There's a reason why Wales is so green!

From reading, I’d like to see the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and others in the River Dee valley.
