What size seatpost is in your Raleigh Technium?

So I have this Raleigh Technium I am tuning up for a friend. It has a 25.4 suspension seatpost which seams awful small. What size seatpost is this frame supposed to have? Thank you.

Bikes: A Blue One and 2 Green One's, then there's the Yellow one. And oh, yeah, a Black One. Did I mention the Red One?

If you pull the suspension receiver out, it is probably marked for it's size.
mines a different kind of technium, but it's a 26.6

Mine has what was the original (if I remember correctly) Sakae 25.8 seatpost.

Here's the build thread on it in case any of that helps you.

And one pic of it as I've got it set up. I think it's a beautful frame and the few rides on it have been quite good.

All of the Techniums that I have seen, in-person, were 26.8. All of them were road models.

That sounds more likely. Thank you.

I'd get an actual measurement done before spending good money on a 26.8 seatpost. We have the same model and I tried 3 different 26.8 seatpost and none would even think about going in. That's the only reason I stuck to the heavy Sakae it came with. I saw a lot of references to various Techniums taking a 26.8 seatpost while googling things on mine. But just not the case with mine. Remember, the various Techniums used different lugs/tubes per model so I wouldn't expect them to be the same across all models.

But if you do get a 26.8 to go in I want to hear about it.

I will let you know. I have a box full of stems and a digital calipers. However, I just wanted to know what the official size was supposed to be. I certainly knew it wasn't 25.4 because the clamp was squeezed pretty tight. Thank you.

You two have a later model than I do. My stays are "fastback", but they are not "shot-in" like yours. I'm a little surprised, hearing that they reduced the diameter of the seat-post, but you never know. Is yours the Easton E9 tube-set?

My 1988 Technium Tri-Lite with 6061-T8 tubing has a 26.8 seat post, not sure this helps as your seat cluster and seat stays are similar but not the same.

Quite a difference in wall thickness there at the seat tube lug between our bikes.

I have a 1990 "753" Technium frame, parted from their highest model (which also happened to be the lowest-priced bike having a full Dura-Ace STI gruppo that year at only $1995.00).

The seatpost is 25.8mm and the frame's seatpost clamp bolt was the non-metric 10-32 size (since chased out to M5x.8).

There are at least two "flavors" of Technium. One variety has aluminum tubes attached with steel lugs. The 26.8 seat post fits this sort. A second variety has steel tubing attached to aluminum lugs. The aluminum lugs have thicker walls. My wife's 91 Team has a seatpost size of either 24.4 or 24.6.

The Author's picture seems to show an aluminum tubed model with a sleeve for the seat post. That's a new one for me.

I had a 26.8mm seatpost on hand. I cleaned and greased it and it went in. It is snug, but it fits.

I have a steel tubed, aluminum lugged Competition from 1990 and it takes a 25.8 mm seatpost. I just pulled out the original seatpost and looked at its stamp to confirm.

All the people who have pointed you with their direct experience with Techniums to 25.8 mm are right, which is why the 25.4 post you discovered sort of fit after the lug was deformed and over tightened.
