My wife came home and told me she broke a measuring cup earlier in the week. Thus completing the tri-fecta.

I’ve decided next time I wax to throw in an old plastic bottle into the mix. The plastic will melt and add an extra layer of protection. I’ll make sure to do it in an unventilated area to preserve the particles for later use.

I've been doing granola with soymilk, as a protein boost late afternoon. My wife makes it for me. She's gone this afternoon,so I went out to do it myself. First I put the dry dishes away. I dropped a glass on the granite counter and, of course, broke it. Next I picked up the glass canister of oats. It also slipped my grip and broke on the edge of the island. I got blood on both hands from that one. I took a chance and used some of the oats anyway. I was barefoot, and made my way to my way to my Wellies for the cleanup operation. I felt a light crunch during bowl #1, and spit it out. There is a little bit left in the pan, for seconds, in case I want more. Thankfully, a cast iron skillet is not a threat to break and bloody me yet more.

among the responses - “rant over yet?” “it’s pedestrian’s fault for not looking,” “what about bikes on the sidewalk,” “driving in the city is so hard” and a mix of other apologist ********. the thing is - i LIKE driving fast. i like fast cars, preferably RWD or AWD with a real stick and tons of power. i definitely drive over the limit at times. it doesn’t bother me if someone else does when one could make a reasonable judgement that it’s safe. but blatantly running a red light at 30+ on a city street? reckless endangerment at best.
i walked out of my office a few days ago (in the financial district) and was about to step into the street on a completely green light with walk signal when a woman in a beat up old white civic blasted through the intersection perpendicular to me. the light wasn’t even freshly green my way! and lights in the city last about 20 seconds each way, she’s hardly saving a lot of time.
/rant off
gotta make it out for a ride tomorrow!! new chain day.

Just finished watching Stage 8. What jumped out at me was the dearth of fans in all those towns they went through. I didn't expect that.

it’s terrible. i generally avoid local social media but after having to jump back into the sidewalk when i or my kids and i had a walk signal because of a red light runner a couple times over just a few days i posted on nextdoor. it was admittedly a bit of a rant against the small minority of drivers who are just terrible, literally endangering the lives of everyone who isn’t in a car to save a few seconds.

Changed out my car battery that was dead today after 34 months. This is battery 3 for a 4.5 year old car. The thing was under warranty and it was free at the parts store where i got it. Not prorated, strange. Changed engine air filter on one car and got a cabin air filter* for the other. will install later since its been 13 months and 11,000 miles and still looks as clean as my colon. I'm storing it in the glove box so I can't miss it. **** big oil change. I saved $30 by doing it myself.
I wish I could find an independent shop but they don't exist around here. My dad had an auto repair shop which he started in August 1960 and my older brother is now running it. Independent shops are dinosaurs which is sad.
