Are my Sidis doomed?(Stripped threads)
Is there any way to repair stripped threads on sidi's cleat holes? Two of the holes on my new shoes have stripped. I would like to avoid buying new shoes if possible. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You could try teflon tape around the screw. Or Locktight (the non permanent type).

I did this same thing to mine, but they were almost ten years old, so I put some locktite on it and bought a new pair. Sidi sells adaptor plates for different pedals, and these adaptors come with a new screw plate to be put inside the shoe. I've been meaning to do it myself, but I haven't gotten around to it. But I believe the sole of the shoe can be removed from the inside, and then you can put in the new plate. Look on Sidi's distributor's website and you'll see pictures of it. I'm also pretty sure Jenson USA carries them, around $24. You also might try calling the distributor to see if you can buy the screw plate by itself. Post to this thread if it works out, I'd be curious to hear about it.

I was just looking into replacing the toe bolts on my Sidi mountain shoes. Google for Sidi parts... you'll find that many models have many replaceable parts.

BTW I just googled the replacement plates, it doesn't seem to include the threaded holes, only the screws.

Best to just contact SIDI and arrange for them to fix it for you.

I can't find the link with the plates, but you might check this out:

Look under 'sidi accessories'

Most SPD-compatible MTB-type shoes have replacable cleat mounting plates accessable through the insole.
I don't know if this applies to 3-hole Look-type road shoes. These may have the nuts molded directly in the shoe sole and can't be easily replaced.
