Bridgestone T700

A guy in my neighborhood is a bike flipper, and he has a Bridgestone T700 for sale. He is asking $549:

Is that a reasonable price for a T700? I know touring bikes can bring a premium, but it seems a bit high to me.

Here is a thread about the T700 which might have some helpful information for you.

Personally, I'd never pay that much for it. What is your goal for it? Do you want it to actually ride?

The entire used bike market is down, as people get rid of their pandemic bike purchases at firesale prices.

Pre-pandemic, $549 would have been a decent price. Today, I'm thinking ~$300. It's just that tough of a market.

I have seen a handful for sale in the LA area in the past few years, all under $300. Nice ones have sold for $150, don't seem to command the Bridgestone premium other models do. That said that's a lot of nice bike at $150

I'd ride it on tour. Needs a front rack, but it looks to be a very nice bike.

Nice bike but way too high IMO. I view as comparable to Centurion and Panasonic tourers from the same year. Not in the same league as Miyata 1000 or Specialized Expedition. If this were something I was really wanting, I’d be willing to go $250-$300.

I bought that bike a few months ago at auction for $11. I sold it $225 after giving it an overhaul and adding the barcons.

I would have bought it from you. Live and learn. I don't really need it, as I already have a touring bike, but it looks very nice.

I was walking the dog the other day, and I noticed he had a bunch of bikes leaning against the house and was truing a wheel on his porch, so I looked him up on CL and I noticed that bike. So I guess he's trying to double his money...

I should have thought of you. I remember you liked touring bikes. I submitted a bid for this bike as a joke because it was so low and ended up getting it. Too big for my daughter so I passed it on. It was in excellent condition. It had been converted to upright bars so I put on drop bars and barend shifters.

He recently reupped the CL post, still at $549. He also has an '85 Trek 620 at $599.

If he still has the bike in a month I might shoot him a low ball offer and see what he says.
