Peugeot PFN10? Course road bike 1981
Hi all! Would love to hear people’s opinions on this bike and what it’s worth.
As some background, the wheel and frame are original but he changed out the OG Simplex derailleurs as they broke with unbranded ones, which he believes are low end suntour.
again, wondering if it’s worth the 225$ he’s asking for and if not what it IS worth. Would also love some history on the model. Thanks in advance!

When I google the PFN10, it shows a really nice road bike with forged dropouts, integrated rear hanger, down tube bosses, etc. Your pictured Peugeot is not that.
Few here would pay more than $75 for your Peugeot ... but they already have a bike. If you don't have a bike, $200 isn't unreasonable for such a clean ride with new tires, given it's the right size, and there aren't better alternatives in your area.

the PFN10 model launched in 1978 and, as mentioned above, was constructed of quality tubing with forged ends. its chainset was the newly launched model Stronglight model 104bis. it was this colour so perhaps that it part of the confusion.

It's not a PFN 10, it's not tig welded, and it's not worth $225. It is a Peugeot though so there's that.

There is another error, I think, in the description, but an error in favor of the buyer. I think the frame is actually internally brazed, with internal lugs, not "TIG-welded" as described. I'd take the former over the latter any day.
The paint and the color scheme are great (that's my favorite Peugeot combination) and I'm sure it will be a great ride.
I agree with the assessment that if you don't currently own a bike, the asking price for this is reasonable. If you buy it, I don't think you'll regret it later.

The frame of this bike is very basic, not what you would call anywhere close to high end, and as noted, isn't TIG welded. The price seems very high for what it is. The owner has spent some money buying new tires, saddle, and bar tape and probably wants to get that money back. The wheels appear to have steel rims, so be careful riding on a rainy day. Two other things I notice: The stem appears to be set dangerously high and the saddle clamp appears to not be fully seated on the seat post.

Thank you for your advice! Im a newbie so to be honest I was definitely attracted by the colorway. Still learning though and I'd love to understand the reason why an internally brazed frame would be more favorable?

You should start a new thread in the C&V valuation forum entitled looking for a bike in DC or something like that. Let people know what size bike you need and where you live (just like you did here). A lot of people will post bikes for you to consider as there is nothing more fun than spending someone else's money to buy an old bike, .

I'm 5'10" and ride the same size, but 57 square is preferred. I do ride a bike stamped as "59" that I love, but the top tube is only 57.5. The top tube is more key for me than the seat tube. Here are some bikes I found in your general area via a super quick craigs search:

I have owned a few Peugeot Course bicycles, over the years. Some, the earlier ones, were really nice bikes, in my opinion...
However, like many sellers, Peugeot lowered the quality of the Course frame/fork set. Still Carbolite 103 but the lovely Simplex forged drops, back and front, were no longer included, having been replaced by the lower end stamped drops and, of course, the claw hanger on the rear, for this model Course.
In my area, I would be reluctant to pay $100 for the bike but my area has a very limited vintage road bike market. In larger cities, then what the OP paid might be a fair price.

Low-end as others have noted but very clean and appears to be ride-ready. $150 +/- $25 if looking for an inexpensive, trustworthy road bike.
