Tubeless rim- clincher tire. Rim tape?

It would seem the obvious answer is no since the rim bed is closed and nothing to puncture the tube. I googled it and found a warning from Continental regarding heat build up from braking may cause the tube to fail. I am installing clinchers on a new Ultegra tubeless rim. I know it would make it more difficult to install the tire with rim tape. What is the consensus on this? Thanks.

Good luck trying to install a tire after adding rim tape. Those Shimano rims are very difficult without tape, the added thickness won't help.

I'm running similar Shimano rims without any rim tape, it isn't required and could not help things in any way. I'm running tubeless and the rims seal very well.
