Timberline GT Bike - Is Timberline still in business?
Hello All,
I have an older Timberline GT bicycle which is at least 10 years old. It appears to be a mountain bike. I see written on the bike: Timberline GT. I also see the words "Triple Triangle" on the seatstays.
Does anyone know if Timberline is stil in business?
I need to replace the binder post which is the screw that tightents to support the saddle. The binder post is in the seatpost clamp. There is writing on the binder post which says CR-MO. I found a part on Amazon which would probably work but I have several choices in mm for size. I am guessing the mm is the diameter of the threaded portion. I measured it with a guide that you use to identify bits and the closest measurement is 15/64" or 5.95mm.
I cannot post URLs or attachments as I dont have enough posts yet but if you do a serach for CR-MO you search for:
SEAT POST BINDER BOLT Ř8MM BIKE SADDLE CLAMP STEEL CR-MO VINTAGE (22mm)
You should see it.
Thanks, Bill

The company is GT. Timberline is the model.
GT is still in business.
CR-MO is just describing the steel the part is made of. A gazzilion parts are made of this. It means little in this context for ID purposes.
Triple Triangle is a frame design element in many GT bikes.
Judging from the bolt you link to, I am assuming this bike has an integrated seat post clamp that is part of the frame (as opposed to a separate non-integrated clamp?)

Take the part to a bike shop, preferably one that has been around for years. They might have one like it.
GT, started by Gary Turner who was a drag racing car frame builder. Started building frames for his son to race BMX.
I'm sure GT has been absorbed by one of the massive conglomerates. Still on the market.

Hello All,
I will post a picture and or a link when I get to 10 posts!
Anyway, I took a regular 5/16" bolt and nut and it seems to work. I am not sure if the pounding and movement of the bike will eventually loosen the bolt. I took the bike to a bike shop and they said Home Depot might have the part.

Not mine - at least as far as I can tell. There are two holes which you thread a bolt through and then tighten the bolt to pinch the two arms together to lock the saddle in place.

This is your pic? I'd rather see the pic of the seat post clamp/binder itself. I don't care for those kind of bolts. I was always breaking them since the part with all the tension on it is much less diameter than the outside part we see. Consider just using a regular bolt and nut.

All you had to do is just say you uploaded a pic to the Gallery here on BF. We know how to find them.
You have ten posts now. Might still need a day for the forum software to update your new status. But you can test that out now.

I don't think they are still in business. Many good businesses didn't survive after pandemic and lock downs and that is just natural. All the business owners need to think very quick and adapt to the new conditions immediately, otherwise it will be too late. Just few days ago we started to work with the 613 area code in order to get new customers and to provide an excellent service to the existing ones.

GT is still in business.
The part in question is pretty common and has been used for decades on many different bicycles, of many different types. It's not specific to GT.

About the shop that tells you “Home Depot may have it - find another shop. Good chance a bike shop will have one laying around.

GT still exists as a brand, but I don't think they're their own company anymore. Like Diamondback and Schwinn, except I think GT bikes still mostly have the 'double diamond' frames.

More than likely one of these items is what your frame is designed to use:

They are still a legit Bike company that designs their own bikes. Yes they are a division of a larger company, but So Is Cannondale, Salsa, and Surly.

Gary Turner, who started GT, started his own new company a few years ago. I don't think they've put out any MTBs though, just BMXers in wheel sizes from 20"-29"
