Apropos of not-this-thread, there was a TV cartoon about twenty years ago called Sheep In The Big City, wherein there was a character named Angry Scientist. The chief bad guy (General Specific) always called him Mad Scientist and Angry would correct him, angrily. The character was voiced by the director, Mo Willems. The vibe of the show was very much like Rocky & Bullwinkle.

Especially when a person joins - to Spoof us bigly, or Not. Then leaves.

Asplode or assplode, the sudden, spontaneous, catastrophic failure of the despised CF (carbon fiber, or plastic) frame material.

Which is not to be confused with covfefe, a word that belongs in the Foo Forum (not to be confused with the Foo Fighters).

Lawyer lips: small notches added to fork tips to avoid accidental front wheel removal.
tub(s): a tubular or sew-up tire.
”That’ll buff right out!”: Sarcastic comment about damage that cannot easily be fixed.
DUI bars: Road bars that have been rotated 180 degrees so that drops are on top.
YMMV: Abbreviation for “Your Mileage May Vary” (corrected)
ass-hatchet: a very uncomfortable saddle

JRO - Just riding along. Used to explains how the damage or catastrophic failure of a bike part could in no way, no possible way, be due to anything the rider might have been attempting.

Cafe racer: Weekend, sunny day road warriors who ride their very expensive bikes 6 miles or so to the cafe for a meal and to brag about their cat. 4 racing careers. Not that anyone in C&V land would ever do so.

Good point, but I think that it implies that carbon fiber and aluminum are fake.
But then I'm not sure what fake would mean.
It rhymes, so it's got that going for it.

I always feel like that statement needs an object, i.e., “real” is modifying some other word:
Steel is real soft.
Steel is real good.
Steel is real comfy.
Steel is real(ly) heavy.
Steel is real breakable.

“Does it plane?”
Not a reference to Tattoo on Fantasy Island, but to Jan Heine’s very vague description of an ideal riding quality that’s completely subjective and very rarely achieved.

DS = Drive side, the side of the bike your chain is on and the only side that photographs are taken from.
NDS = Non drive side, the other side.
Used to avoid confusion when left/right is used as it depends on where you're standing (or sitting) at the time.
