taken out of context as always. Faa started an audit early this year. They started with crew bags. Even crew bags in the cockpit have to be included in the weight when we do the weight and balance. Originally they were going to just increase weight of passenger that aircrews use for weight and balance. Current summer weight for an adult is 184 pounds. It’s safe to say that majority of the people weigh more than this, so there were talks to increase the weight to 196. Not a big deal on larger airplanes but it would be bad for my aircraft. We wouldn’t be able to fill all the seats in some situations. So over the course of the rest of the year they will weigh random passengers to get an accurate average for aircrews to use.

If they have the right-of-way, I tell them to take it. Sometimes in terms that cannot be repeated here.

Like I said, they're sitting in a dark room, behind a big reflective surface, and I might not see their hand, and it shouldn't be my responsibility to look for it. I, OTOH, am out in the open. If I do a headwag, it's visible. If I wave my hand, it's visible. But in any case there's a RULE for determining right of way.

You may wonder how I know he blew through at least two stop signs while I was stopped. I know, because I passed him 3 times.

Because a lot of cyclists don't behave like just another vehicle, particularly those of the casual recreational variety. Far too many act like both vehicle and pedestrian, assuming they have the rights of both simultaneously. It leaves drivers wary of cyclists being unpredictable and not following any rules. While enjoying a very nice patio lunch with Mrs. F in a beach community on Sunday, I witnessed this issue almost constantly.

I'm sure that there's a spectrum of reasons that people defer, but we know that it's not because they see us as equals and it's unlikely that most do it because they see us as superiors. Meanwhile, is it really a courtesy that they're providing? In the amount of time that it takes to do the "you go. No, you go" routine, we could have both put the intersection behind us. Sometimes, the most polite thing to do is to get the hell out of the way.
Ah, so adding the potential for more confusion makes a bad situation better? Good to know.

I keep forgetting that I'm supposed to be feeling like ****. Got the second shot this morning. Just did a ~3 mile walk/circuit of grocery stores, now cooking per usual. If I'm going to feel fine all afternoon/evening, I'd better not wake up feeling like microwaved dog poo in the morning and have to skip my Wed ride.

Of course. Also, everyone has their own idea about how long a rest stop should be. I say less than 5 minutes, enough to eat a snack, fill bottles, and use the restroom.
