spent the morning at mellow johnies in Austin. It’s a really nice store, and they told me to bring back the other Jersey I bought in sept and switch it o it next time I am in town.
Picked up a Mellow Johnie hat.
Austin seems like a cool city. Driving from the airport to downtown last night looked like we were in a different country.
Have one long flight back to New York and then trying to get home tomorrow morning for my only day off.
Suppose to pick up the madone tomorrow, hopefully she’s good to go. Waiting to hear back from trek if I can use the other free mx coupon on my cervelo instead of my wife’s bike. If they say yes then I will take that in.

Went to the bike path today for a couple hours. All kinds of e-bikes today including a monstrous cargo bike which actually had a brake light. I suppose it's a good idea if you're riding around the city hauling whatever they haul with these things.

Sometime when you have time to kill, rent a Checkpoint from MJ’s, and take a leisurely ride around the lake. There is access across the street from MJ’s.
What was wrong with the jersey you got?

Austin is fun. I’d live there if I didn’t have to commute or if I could live in Westlake.

I tried a size large jersey on in the store and it fit fine, but it wasn’t a style that I wanted. So I ordered one and when it came, even though it was made by the same italian company as the one I tried on it was too small. I’m back again next week so I will just bring it back and get something else. I didnt see that style anymore. If they won’t honor the price then I will just get a shirt from them or something.
Didnt trek disown Lance after the whole ordeal? I found it odd his store carried trek products. It doesn’t matter to me either way, just had me thinking.
They had some nice looking BMC in stock.
Oh, and the trek madone 2.1 is going to be a no go. I sent it to my best friend first before I considered buying it. He said he wasn’t interested, but he actually was and his fiancé is buying it for him. I’m stoked becuase he needed a new bike and it was in great condition.

Some Zwift programmer has a jackass sense of humor. Today, when passing checkpoints all the way up Ventoux, I got stuff like 10xp or a drafting bonuses, but not a single feather. When I passed through the arch at the very top - feather. Coasting back down? Two more feathers. Same thing happens on the AdZ all the time, too.

Nope, At work at the moment, and I get back tomorrow sometime, but then leave Tuesday early until the morning. I won’t get to look at it til next week most likely, unless trek says they will service the bike using my wife’s coupon.
When I had them cut the steerer tube, I think that was the only time it didn’t have play in it, right when I picked it up.
Maybe I don’t know how to preload………

Okay, so MAYBE triples aren't s**t.
After spending a half hour last night putting the cable runs under the BB in liners, AND fiddling with tension and limit screws and such, I took the Litespeed on my 54mi. Sunday route. NOW it shifts like it's supposed to - though I DID have to loosen one limit screw on the FD, since on the road I was getting chain scrape in the highest gear that I didn't get on the stand. For some reason, now the shifting to larger rings goes without overshifting, and I didn't have to trim as much as yesterday - but I hadn't moved the FD at all!
I figured out what the 'bell' sound is - chain strikes on the chainstay. Happens mostly when coasting. There's a bit of drag in the freewheel which I think is causing the top side of the chain to go a bit slack, so a sudden bump, and *BING!!* I need to rebuild those DA7400 wheels with new rims once the dust settles and I feel like I can drop the foldy/spendy on them. That freewheel has almost no drag.
One issue did crop up. When I started off, everything felt fine, fit wise. About halfway through the ride, I decided that maybe the Ergos were too far away - just a tiny bit, but enough to justify buying a Soma Highway One. Then I had to ride down what USED TO BE a lovely descent, where I could usually coast up to 30 mph. They'd trenched the entire bike lane for at least 200 yards, and patched it BADLY. There was so much chain slap (with me in the smallest cog), the damn thing sounded like a pinball machine! And I noticed the bar was rotating, just a little, each time there was a big hit. YIKES!!! I stopped, pulled out my mini-tool, and got it back in place, and then as tight as I could get it with a mini tool. Still... Anyone ever use assembly paste on an aluminum stem/aluminum bar interface?
Any way, apart from all that, the bike is GREAT!!! I think I'm in love!! Here's the requisite Frenchman's Tower shot, and a close-up.

Wow! Nine hours on the bus. Masked throughout. It's a different kind of experience. Still better than driving. And here we are in Villahermosa, Tabasco.
